Well, actually I needed a city that had only a small influnce by the mafia. But I if I only looked at the map, what chance would I find one? And I wanted a name that was not casual--American equivalent: Joe Bob, John Dale, Henry Davis, etc. DO you know what I mean?
"It is no secret that organized crime in America takes in over forty billion dollars a year. This is quite a profitable sum, especially when one considers that the Mafia spends very little for office supplies." -Woody Allen
"I'm going to blame some of the people in this room. And that, I do not forgive."
-Don Vito Corleone

Piazza Armarina is quitte small, Corleone aswell. Siracusse is a medium sized town even as Enna. Palermo, Messina and Catania (where i live) are the only three big towns at Sicily. By the way, if you need twenty small towns just ask for it. We have lots of them.

How about Savoca and Taormina? Since Corleone, Sicily, was too developed even in the early 70s to be used for filming, the Sicilian town of Savoca outside of Taormina was used instead. This is where you'll find Bar Vitelli and the church Michael was married in. Look here. JG
I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! lol Whaddaya want me to do? Whack a guy? Off a guy? Whack off a guy? --Peter Griffin My DVDs | Facebook | Godfather Filming Locations

JGSavoca is ok, and still "Old Fashion". Taormina is good for the tourist :D, who don't want to go to Spain or so. Even as Giardini Naxos.

They could've used more than one town, but Bar Vitelli and the church are in Savoca. I'll ask Harlan Lebo about Forza D'agro....

I was born in Syracuse, Sicily. My dad is a 100% Sicilian, my mom is Dutch. When i was four years old my mom wants to go back to the Netherlands, so we moved to Amsterdam where my dad founded a Italian Restaurant (NOT a Pizzeria). At the age of thirtytwo i moved back to Sicily because i wanted to search my roots. I live in Catania for three years now and i enjoy it every day.

And I'm only half Sicilian myself...the other half is German. I'd love to visit where both sides of my family came from. I know if I go to Sicily though, I'll probably never come back to the America. I doubt if I have any roots left over in Santa Ninfa. If you ever drop by the west end of the island...feel free to ask around about the Lagrassa's.

JG I'm back to bring up an old topic. Geoff i've found some more information backing up Forza D'Agro as the place in Sicily. Forza D\'Agro Is there any more closure on this yet? Also was Tommansino's place around Savoca/Taormina. It's called Villa Palantia, I found this out a good while ago, it was probably on this message board that I did. But I can't find anything online about it.
