PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania (AP) -- The 62-year-old founder of the notorious Black Mafia drug gang has been arrested for a parole violation, authorities said.

Richard Christian, who was once on the FBI's Most Wanted list and was convicted of the 1971 attempted murder of a Harlem police officer, offered no resistance when he was taken into custody Tuesday, FBI agent Jim Sweeney said.

Christian, who once weighed 230 pounds, appeared gaunt and disheveled, Sweeney said.

Police say Christian in 1968 helped establish the Black Mafia, which at one point controlled 80 percent of the Philadelphia drug trade and was responsible for more than 50 deaths through the late 1980s. He has a long arrest record in Philadelphia, New Jersey and New York.

In New York, Christian was sentenced to 15 years to life for the attempted murder of a police officer in a Harlem record store during a 1971 robbery and shootout. He was released on parole in 1988.

New York authorities issued a warrant for his arrest November 20, 2000, for an alleged parole violation.

I would hate to say this but there is a such thing as a black mafia. Most people get confused. Most people gets mixed up with Black Street Gangs and Black Organized crime...Two completely different things...The Black Mafia is taking over, they are basically running New York.

First rule of Fight Club, you do not talk about Fight Club. Second rule of Fight Club, you DO NOT talk about Fight Club. Third rule of Fight Club, when someone say "stop" or goes limp, the fight is over. Fourth rule of Fight Club, only two guys to a fight. Fifth rule of Fight Club, one fight at a time. Sixth rule of Fight Club, no shirt, no shoes. Seventh rule of Fight Club, fights go on as long as they have to. Eighth and final rule of Fight Club if this is your first night at Fight Club you have to fight.
