It's alright mate, if you hang around here long enough, you pick up plenty of knowledge. Especially when Rusty, Turnbull and a few others get going.

The simplest way to learn the basics is TV. Watch alot of programs on mafia individuals etc, biographys and that. Read books, theres plenty of biography ones nowadays but watch out for gangsters trying to make themselves sound better and come off as a hero. Try internet sites like http://www.crimelibrary.com for full accurate knowledge. Very insightfull.

Good luck.

I learned alot about the mafia by reading lots of books and watching TV and getting on the internet. I learned alot by reading most of the posts and the Boards.

Leonard: I dont know. See, I have this condition.
Teddy: Well, I hope its not as serious as his, 'cos this guy's dead.

The same counts for me, i've read three meters of books, watched almost every mafia movie and surfed a lot on the internet.

The different part is that i moved back to Sicily a couple of years ago. If you want to learn about the mob, Sicily is the place to be.

I've read alot on the Sicilian side of things lately. I even branched out to the Camorra of Napoli. Jesus christ people forget these clans, they are harsh. It was only a few days ago I heard about two rival Camorra clans in a shoot out with women behind the guns.

Don't forget about our Calabrien "friends". The
Ndrangheta, those are the real tough guys. There is an other clan in the south of Sicily, around Gela. They are called "Stitta", Star in English. If you compare the Stitta and the Cosa Nostra, then the Cosa Nostra looks like kindergarden.

Three die in 'female' Mafia shoot-out.

Monday, 27 May, 2002, 22:35 GMT 23:35 UK
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Three women were killed and five more injured in an unusual shoot-out between the female members of two Mafia families near Naples, in southern Italy.
Mrs Giuliano allegedly led the Camorra Mafia until 2000.

Two carloads of female gangsters careered around narrow roads between small towns, exchanging machine gun and pistol fire and terrifying passing motorists.

The shooting began in the town of Lauro, about 20 kilometres (12 miles) east of Naples, on Sunday night.

"Never before had women pointed guns at each other and never before had they been played leading roles in a shootout," the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera said.

Two of the dead women involved in the incident between the rival Cava and Graziano clans were grandmothers, and the other victim was the 16 year-old grand-daughter of one of the Mafia families.

Our correspondent David Willey says that normally gunmen sent to kill rival in family vendettas are exclusively male, but in recent year the womenfolk of Mafia bosses have been playing a bigger role in organised crime. Never before had women pointed guns at each other and never before had they been played leading roles in a shoot-out
Corriere della Sera

Vendetta

In one of the cars were the women of the Cava family, while in the other one was Salvatore Graziano - the reputed boss of a rival clan - with three female relatives.

After the shootout the two cars were riddled with bullet holes.

Both clans belong to the Camorra syndicate -the Neapolitan version of Sicily's Mafia - and they have been fighting for control for years for control of extortion, drug and prostitution.

Feuding between the two clans flared up in again in January after a cousin of the Cava boss was assassinated.

'Madrina' power

Our correspondent says that recently some Mafia clans have been led - temporarily or permanently - by women after their menfolk were captured and given long prison terms.

One "madrina", or godmother, allegedly ran one of Naples' most powerful clans until she was arrested two years ago.

Erminia Giuliano, nicknamed the Queen of the Clan, allegedly took over the operation of the Camorra syndicate after the arrests of her three brothers.

The police ranked her as one of Italy's 30 most dangerous criminals.

Correspondents say that the Sunday shootout could be another sign of changes for the Mafia woman, who traditionally fulfilled the role of a loving mother and wife.

Mafia is not a women business, women should act like the last part of the quote. Take care of the childeren and the meals.

Don't confuse the Giuliano's with me. I'm not trouble at all.

Don't worry Don Michel, I've read about the Ndrangheta too. Jesus christ, I don't get why the Sicilian Mafia get so much attention. During the 80's there was about 1800 murders in Sicilia and close to about 1500 in the south of Italia - most notibly around Napoli. Obviously this is about the Camorra not the Ndrangheta. But that gives and idea of Italia all together not just Sicilia. Compare these statisics to the last 25 years of IRA and Real IRA trouble in Northern Ireland and you'll find it's about 3 times as many murders.

I spend some vacations in Northern Ireland. A very nice country. Very quitte and a nice country site. Very good whiskye (Bushmills), very kind peolple, good food, nice towns ((London)Derry and Belfast). Got a couple of friends in Derry, protestant and catholics, it's a f***ing miracle.

Just one thing that i don't like about Ulster, the f***cking politics.
