I know its not linked to the Mafia, but round my way in North London, where there is a large Greek/Turkish community, there are a number of organised Turkish gangs with regular shoot outs and police raids in shops and houses etc. They are mostly illegal immigrants who have come to the country illegally, and i believe they are now the biggest distributers of heroin in the country,let alone London. There are many shoot outs in streets (green lanes anyone?)and residential areas with other eastern european rival gangs such as the Albanians, who are also after a piece of the drug trade, as well as Jamacian yardies.

Joe I know exactly what you mean - soon as I started reading your post I thought you must be talking about Harringay. I live nearby, used to work up Wood Green, the whole place is a sh1thole. Its swamped with illegals, turks, albanians, kosavans, gypsies, you name it. Most of them wouldn't know an honest days work if it hit them in the face. They basically smuggle more illegals into the country, sell drugs, sell prostitutes, sell fake passports, its a joke. And no-one does anything about it, because if you do you get called a racist.

In T.O. most Turkish-Canadians are upright, decent, hardworking people. Although there is a Turkish Mafia I don't know too many Turkish-Canadians who approve. Its the same with Italian-Canadians...stereotypes aren't good for anybody.

Im not saying all turks are like this, i have many turkish friends because of the area i live in. But there certainley are many illegal immigrants from eastern europe such as Turkey and Albania who have setteled in the North London region, as Bella Mafia UK would also now!. They deal drugs, people smuggling, you name it. I think they are called the PPK or something like that, but violence and shootings are becoming more frequent.

point taken, I am not European so I couldn't really comment with authority regarding this issue. Illegal activity of any kind is absolutely unacceptable by any ethnic group in any neigbourhood.
