Can anyone shed light or information on a Godfather part 4 i would very much appreciate it. I heard that there was talk of one to be like part 2 were it would continue with Andy Garcia as modern day vincent and SHITTY Dicaprio as A younger sonny. It's already been mentioned on this list that the the possiblity had been considered, but since Puzo's death Coppola has said there will be NO Godfather Part IV.

A Godfather IV would be great. I used to be against the idea. But after hearing FFC's idea for it in the DVD set. I couldn't resist. It would be awesome if it happened.

I bet a lot of the people who were excited about a long-awaited GF3 to come out were disappointed when it didn't live up to expectations...people might have felt the same way about GF4

I know I'd hate to see a really bad part four. I don't even think it's worth taking the chance.

But we dont know that,GF4 could be better than part I and II if have the right cast and plot.

It could be the biggest thing ever.

I think they should leave well enough alone. Though I'm sure Coppola would do a decent job if given the proper time to put it together, he wouldn't have Puzo to bounce ideas off and let's face it, he's the (pun intended) Godfather of "The Godfather."

I don't think a present day story with Vincent would be compelling. What hurt III was the fact that Hagen, Fredo, Sonny, etc were dead and gone, leaving only Michael and Connie as the only Corleones from their generation. The flashback story going back to the thirties sounds promising, but they'd have to get another actor to succeed DeNiro as Young Vito.

But what I really hope is that this film is NEVER, I repeat, NEVER REMADE!!

What the hell is wrong with people saying that a GF4 would be good? I have about a billion ligitimate reasons as to why it would ruin everything.....1. The film would be made 20, 30 years after the first 3 films and that in itself is stupid......2. Why ruin a perfectly good trilogy with a movie that might very well be really shit....3. Mario Puzo is dead, leaving us with a legacy that will carry on for generations to come and....4. Why don't you leave well enough alone??????

1)An ending that can settle people who wanted a good ending.

2)Invite young and old to embrace The Godfather movies.

3)We will have Tom back(always a plus)

4)Gets FFC to make a better box set. :p

5)Bring modern day actors into the mix witch agrees with my #2 reason.

As was proven with GFIII, that's not so easily possible. Can't keep making sequels until everybody agrees we've finally got a "good ending".

And...anyone can 'suggest' a possible good ending that will please everybody (an aged Michael dropping dead was pretty much the best ending there could be); but again...that's not a reason for a film to be made.

Let's face it, folks -- not only should there not be a Part Four, there probably shouldn't have been a Part Three either. The story was complete enough after Part Two, with Michael alone with his ghosts. Part Three, with Michael in a "King Lear" phase, is a noticeably weaker movie. It was released before Coppola was really ready, and unfortunately that's obvious when watching it; you get the feeling it's ALMOST great, but with some work it could actually BE great. (Perhaps Coppola could go back to it some day and do it the way he really "wanted" to, as he has recently done with "Apocalypse Now.") I agree with those who say there's too great a chance that a fourth installment would be hugely disappointing, even if Coppola directed (he's pretty inconsistent).

Well, well, well.........I've been corrected. If you actually read the book you would know that my quote comes from the book, not the movie as I find this one more like Michael's style. When you spoke of me being a moron because of me getting the release time of the 3rd movie wrong, it would be good if you had of actually inquired as to which film I was referring to and found out I was referring to the 1st film.
