So what does everyone really think? Will there be another GF, or...should it just stay put in the grave?

Welcome to the boards DJGodfather, I think that if you'll browse around and do a search you'll find out the opinion of most members on the topic, it was discussed many times way before a sequel was announced, and to make a poll you press the post a poll and go from there.
My particular opinion is that i don't think they should make a fourth Godfather Puzo is gone and even if he was still here. I did not like Part III.

Maybe FFC should make a movie about The Sicilian or The Family.

With Puzo gone i don't think i would want that.

We should be ok with a Borgia film coming out next year hopefully with a cast of Christina Ricci, Ewen Mcgregor and a few others. Whilst it wont be based on The Family it'll be pretty close as The Family will be based on the same source of history.

A Sicilian film could definately be done with. The 1987 film starring Chris Lambert was pathetic to say the least.

On GFIV. I've got to say i'll be dissapointed with it. I never wanted a fourth to go ahead. But I must admit it's intriging to where it could be headed and i'll most likely look forward to seeing it aswel.

I agree with Guineapig, I wouldn't want another GF now that Puzo is gone, just wouldn't be the same. Not only that, but GF III was a disappointment. Sure, their could be a prequel, but you coudln't use the actors from the original GF because their too old! Who are you gonna get then? Justin Timberlake as Tom & Britney Spears as Kay!?

I really liked Godfather III, it put an end to Michael Corleone, put an end to the movies which I think was a good way of ending a trilogy, but yeah it def. was not as good as the other two.

But what about all those missing years and unanswered questions? I think GF4 would be perfect to complete the Saga. Of course, they'll need new actors/actresses for the flashback scenes, and get Pacino, Garcia, and Shire for the modern scenes if GF4 will include two parallel stories. The fact that Mario Puzo actually wrote half the script for GF4, it should be worth considering in making GF4. It's what Puzo wanted. Maybe GF4 can be a tribute to Mario Puzo. But i think if there is a GF4, everyone on this board would go and watch it. I know i will.

TIS [/b][/quote]Hey Italian Stallionette! Do you have the DVD set? If you do, in the 5th DVD, it's got all these extra features, and you can find an interview with Mario Puzo. That's where he talks about GF4 and mentions that he wrote half of the script. He also mentions that he gave a copy to Robert De Niro, Paramount, and i think Coppola. It was Coppola who said that there wouldn't be any GF4. Actually, in the 5th DVD, Coppola did mention that it would be up to Paramount to decide if there should be another Godfather. So who knows what will happen next. Now, i don't know if the script covers the missing years, but i wouldn't bet against it. From that interview, you can tell that he wanted to focus on the missing years, especially with the young Sonny's life as well as the rise of the Corleones. Yeah, i hope they do something about it.

TIS, Puzo DID write a GFIV TREATMENT, short synopsis of a story involving DeNiro as Vito and Garcia as Vincent but i thought it would NEVER happen...then Nas bought his way onto a 2pac Cd and the whole world flipped over!

I STILL can't talk Apple into finishing GF3! I wonder if she's ever seen DiCaprio in Romeo and Juliet doesn't that remind you of GF3?

I'm half half....I think if they do another Godfather it should be strictly about the family and business without any the overly deep and meaningful tangent (Michael's search for redemption yada yada) that GIII had........

Still if they continue the saga with Vincent as head of the family I am not too keen about that either.....
