I have agreat idea of gf4, in the scene where fredo gets killed, the gun shot part isn't seen..

so think about it, the man that had to kill him couldnt do it, so he told fredo that michael send to kill him , and let him go. and shot to the air so michael will think he shot at him.

fredo escapes from the country, and comes back while vincent is the don, and michael is still alive, he kills both vincent and michael, and finaly findes the respect he looked for his whole life...

Except that...

Since the killing of Fredo IS seen in GFII (we don't actually witness the shooting but we hear it and we see Neri stand up in the boat and we know it happened and we KNOW Fredo's dead), then none of your story would make sense.

It would simply be altering the previous story in order to create another one. Not a good idea when messing with The Godfather Trilogy.

No problem, mark00...though I'm generally DEAD SET against the making of a GFIV, it's sometimes interesting to see the ideas people come up with.

Though your Fredo theory might've been a little unrealistic w/ regard to the story, I don't think there was any reason to call it *stupid*. Keep trying, you've got a good imagination!!

It links to an article about a pre-written GF4 that Puzo and Copolla worked on before Puzo died.

GF4 would be a prequel taking place in the 1920's following Sonny Corleone since it was Puzo's fav. character.

It would be interesting to see more of Santino, but DeCaprio? That guy almost ruined Gangs. He can't play tough, and Sonny needs to be tough.

John Cazale, the actor who Fredo, died of cancer in 1978 and Fredo would be in his 80's by this time so...Not sure if anyone would like to see a guy that old try to get respect or revenge, especially since all those involved in his downfall are all dead now.
I agree, messing around with the original storyline wouldn't work, and besides, the killing of Fredo is in keeping with a 'Godfather' movie. It's what made Michael Michael.

Yeah, bringing back Fredo would really deteriorate the Godfather series the way the sequels of Jaws deteriorated the original. No one wants to see a Godfather IV as bad as Jaws IV (quite possibly the most awful movie ever made). =P

I don't think it would work, because Neri's loyalty was as unquestionable to Micheal as Brasi's was to Vito. But my idea is not much better, so I should'nt be talking.

It's simpler to make a story between the ending of GF2 and start of GF3. Rise of Zsasa and Vincent Corleone and Micheal gettin to the top where he iz in GF3. I liked Vincents character more than Micheals in GF3. Micheal comes off to weak while u can c that VIncent is like Micheal back in GF1.
