This is a topic that i am interested in seeing what people think. I know a lot of people are against a GFIV and I tend to agree with you they have a better chance of messing it up than they do of actually hitting every spot that Godfather fans want scratched. I do want to bring up a question though if there were to be a 4th and final movie the best way to draw people to it would be to have DeNiro reprise his role as Don Vito Corleone. Do you think that he could still pull it off or is he to old now? Me personally I still feel as though he could but the time is now and in about 5 years maybe less it could be too late to ever open a chapter on the early days of the Corleone Empire. I eagerly await your opinions!

I have mixed feelings about GFIV, however deep down am still hoping they make it. And yes, I think DeNiro would be perfect for the in-between age of young/old Vito. He would be the "draw", the audience's connection to the first GF. He can pull it off I'm sure. As far as his cancer goes, what was reported was that it was discovered in time, and was not life threatening. True, with cancer you never know, but as long as he is feeling well, I don't think DeNiro will stop making movies in the near future. TIS

Yep, Pacino is 63, will be 64 on 4/25/04. Some friends of mine celebrated his b-day this year cause it fell on a Friday!

Bobby has no intention of stopping work, or at least work outside of film making..
As you Noo Yawkas know, he's a big presence in Tribeca, with his Tribeca Film Festival and Tribeca Grill Restaurant.
His latest venture will be partnering in the opening of a boutique hotel, also in Tribeca. The project was announced after the cancer announcement.
As far as playing Vito in a GF 4 goes? Sure, why not. The voice and gestures are easy. All he'd need is a little bit of makeup.

as i have posted before i think paramount should seriously consider the fact that their window of opertunity is slowly disappearing. honestly, de niro is getting older, and sick. francis coppola is losing his touch, and any sort of story Mario Puzo has conceived is probably fading from certain people's memory. i have no doubt francis can make godfather four special. but i mean if they wait any longer i don't think even he will be able to help the movie if it requires a new cast.i figure they have five years at most to descide what to do. after that any idea of a gf four should be abandoned. forgotten.

Except that there is no 'window of opportunity' because a GFIV will NEVER be made...nor should it. And if it ever is, nobody associated with the original classics (Coppola/Pacino/Deniro/Keaton/Duvall/Shire) will ever have anything to do with it, not if they're in their right minds. It would have to be taken over by an entire new generation of both actors/directors/producers. I hope it's never done...and if it is, I hope it's not for years. It's OVER !!!!!!!!! Best, AppleOnYa

well apple u have it all wrong. they wouldn't have to bring in a whole new generation of writers and directors and so on. ffc im sure with enough pressure can be talked into anything. and de niro isn't exactly being given the roles of a life time the last many years. and im sure that they can sneak in pacino in the story. it would make sense as he only dies in 1997. garci would be back. so can talia shire, and maybe even diane keaton if the story calls for it. so can some of the talens from the vito story in part two. i have always said that bruno kirby was a great clamenza

You are right, as long as these people are alive, anything is possible. The point is it WON'T be done, because all of the artists mentioned are (hopefully) too smart to get involved with a Part IV since 1)there is no reason for one to be made, and 2) especially after the limited success of Part III - which let's face it no matter how much anyone liked it was NOT on the level of the first two - it would simply be a case of overkill. Coppola has vowed there will be no Part IV, especially since the death of Puzo...he is right. I have faith he and all the actors involved would not bow to the faith of mostly overenthusiastic fans who can't appreciate a precious gem when they have it. Forget sequels. If The Godfather were ever remade at all it would probably be as a miniseries with an entirely new set of people. New producers, director, cast. And even then, it would not hold a candle to the classic original - or even the Godfather Saga. And to coin a phrase, even if it were done... 'Not for years.' Apple

Show some respect to brando, please, he has achieved great things in his career the fact is we all get old, the trilogy should be left as it is part three was a good film but not great i feel part four is just diggin up the past lets just look forward to some great future gangster films, hopefully pacino will do this.

I Agree a part four would cheapen the trilogy no matter how well it was done. and i doubt pacino would be interested.
