This is probably old news. But I just recently saw a promo for fifth season. It's pretty short and it's just a teaser, but it seems like Tony and Melfi are gettin it on. I've heard rumors that they might have a relationship outside the therapy. Now that Tony is having problems with Carm and he isn't seeing seeing Melfi as a patient anymore. Ole Tone might be gettin a little lonely it seems, but anyway check it out on http://www.hbo.com/sopranos.

Hi Wes 2K3,

That's just what I thought I saw in the "teaser" glimpses we got. It was so quick, I wasn't sure. However, we shouldn't be surprised I guess, as we know there was sexual tension between the two. Yea, Tony will really score points with Carm then won't he???

Don't believe everything you "almost" see. The promos
for almost every Soprano's episode are always misleading.

Actually, that's just reused footage from season two, in the episode "Funhouse", where Tony has fever dreams as a result of food poisoning.

Yea, that's true Just Lou!! We were mislead quite a few times in the past. It probably was "just a dream" or something.

Soprano Fan, you may be right, but why would they advertise it as previews from Season 5, only to put scenes from an old season in it?

At any rate, I still can't wait to see The Sopranos again. Time's getting short now!

I don't know why, but they used a lot of old footage from previous seasons in that promo such as Tony touching Gloria's stomach from season three, Christopher saying "Whacking a boss from one of the five families", Vic the Apprasier being chased, Tony saying, "No body, no murder" from season four, and Tony kissing Valentina. All from previous seasons, I'm assuming that it's just a way to pump up viewers with a new footage and remembrance of seasons past. They showed a promo during last week's golden globes which composed of entirely new footage.

Yeah you guys are right. They did show a lot of old footage. I believe that they are just trying to hype up the fans. HBO are masters of deception. Like for example the promo for "Whitecaps" almost made it seem like that Tony was trying to get out of the business but in reality he was talking about therapy. But it should still be a really good season.

We've been mislead so much in the past on the next week trailers.

Remember in season four when we saw "On next week's show" Gloria opening her door to Tony and saying "Dinner's almost ready." Little did we know, that next week it would be part of a dream sequence and that Gloria was actually dead!

The only thing that is predictable is it will be unpredictable! I can't wait.

Exactly Capo. One that pissed me off too, was when they showed scenes for Whitecaps, and you could see Tony's men shooting somebody inside of a car. Little did you know that it was only two nobodys.

There was one instance of where the preview for the next week's episode TOTALLY fooled everyone, and I LOVED it!

Episode 9 of Season 4, "Whoever Did This", the episode where Ralphie Cifaretto dies.

In the previews, they showed Paulie making threats to kill Ralphie, Ralphie running scared, and Tony lifting the tarp off what looks like a dead body.

As we watch the episode, we see that Ralphie was running because of his son's accident and Tony was lifting the tarp off of the dead body of the horse.

So, we were all lulled and misled. We thought Ralphie was safe and no one was gonna die in that episode.

Then BOOM! Out of nowhere, Tony and Ralphie are beating the shit out of each other, Ralphie tries to stab him, and next thing you know Tony chokes Ralphie to death with his bare hands!

It took me by COMPLETE surprise! And I'll tell ya, I am thankful it did. "Whoever Did This" is one of the greatest episodes of "The Sopranos" ever, and that total shock over Ralphie's death is a big reason for it.

Chris, Whoever Did This really shows the maturity of the Sopranos since Season one. When I rewatch earlier seasons now, they seem somewhat cheesey to the seriousness of season four; almost as if they didn't expect the show to be as successful as it is, and are now putting more effort into it.

The onscreen bonding of James Gandolfini and Michael Imperioli in that episode is immense. The humour is as dark as ever, and the viciousness with which the Ralphie murder is directed, acted and overall handled is the biggest shock of the show so far.

I agree heartily, Mick.

A lot of people didn't like Season Four. At first I thought it was the weakest of the four seasons, but the more I watch the DVDs, the more it has grown on me.
Season Four is AWESOME, and "Whoever Did This" was the jewel in the crown. (My other favorites from Season Four are "The Weight" and "Whitecaps").

I agree, Season One seemed to be almost light-hearted. Season Two took a bit more of a serious turn. With the death of Pussy Bonpensiero, the show has been really dark, and hasn't looked back!
Season Three was dark, and Season Four was REALLY dark.

And it looks like we are in for a treat with Season Five! The Season Five poster someone provided the link to really indicates that.

I agree with ChrisY about the Ralphie whacking in season 4. absolutely awesome. Took me completely and totally by surprise. I happened to be watching that episode alone that night and was literally out of my seat saying "OMG". I loved it!! If my neighbors would have heard me, surely they'd think I flipped out.

I guess we shouldn't be too surprised about the lack of "previews". Chase is always pretty secretive every season it seems.

Does that trailer clip not contain OLD footage of Tony and Melfi getting it on in her office? Sure it is just previous dream footage.

On a different note, has Angelo Badalamenti been drafted in? Sounds very much like a Twin Peaks soundtrack being played over the clip!

I haven't seen the promo, and since the link is now dead, I never will most likely. Was it the classic finger clicking on the offbeat along with the bouncing bass and light brush snares? I simply love the Twin Peaks soundtrack! Badalamenti is amazing.

I think it's cool that at the end of this promo, where Tony says "I'm the boss of this family...and you better get used to it," they show Tony, and behind them are the ducks flying away.

Not "Dance of the dream man" unfortunately Capo!

More like a dark, "Laura Palmer" instrumental going on, certainly has Badalmenti undertones to it.

When does the new season begin? Also, will this be season 5 or 6? I've watched all 4 seasons on DVD, so if this is season 6, I'm screwed until season 5 comes out on DVD.

Only season five.........

You lucky sods on that side of the pond only have to wait until March. Cannot find the release date for the UK yet.

Capo, you heard any stories about when it is coming to TV? I would imagine it will air on E4 before getting to channel four, much like series four.

E4 usually starts to air it about 3/4 the way through the American schedule, and then it starts on Ch4 after the thirteen episodes have all finished on E4--which I don't have!

So, it'll be here by 2005!

That's it!?? I heard that James G. signed on for like 30 or so more episodes, that's at least another 2 seasons!

Thanks Sopranos fan! That gave many more glimpses and makes me more eager to see it. However, it's still kind of hard to tell what's gonna happen. BTW, the screen showing the previews is so damn small. Am I doing something wrong or what??? Many times when I view previews on line, the little screen box is about 2" by 2".

My god season 5 looks incredible, i'm especially interested in the "Fuck family and fuck loyalty"- coming from Mr Moltisanti's mouth. That preview is very effective, anyone know of the actual date S5 will hit E4 in the UK?
