Shall I buy an R1 or R2 DVD set then? Any chance of finding out which has the most value for money, or just a chart displaying the inevitable differences?

As far as I know, they're identical. Since you're in Region 2, perhaps you should get that one. I assume you have a multi-region DVD player since you're asking...

Please - someone verify the differences in minutes - nearly 200 minutes diff between R1 and R2 is not just bits n pieces.
Course I have a multi-region player - do people buy any that aren't?

Hello, I would buy the region 2 version if I were you. It's out in Holland and there (as far as I can tell) is no difference in extra features compared to the region 2 version. Also, the picture quality will be better, because the region 2 is the PAL version, which is naturally better suited for viewing on European televion sets. When viewing the region 1 version, your DVD player has to convert the NTSC signal (525 lines/ 60 Hz) to a PAL signal (625 lines/ 50 Hz). Use the link at the bottom of this message for in-depth information about technical DVD issues. A third argument: it's just as cheap (or probably cheaper) as the region 1 version. I bought mine for fl. 132,-, which is only about 37 English pounds! Greetings, Charles Z. null web page

Yep, it's cheap! I only regret there's only a "mass-market version" of the GF DVD set. Paramount should have released one version, containing "just" the three GF movies, and a "luxury edition" containing the special feuatures disc (a booklet would also have been nice!). That would have killed out all the people who aren't really fans but have bought it because of the heavy advertisement campaign. (I feel a little cheap with my "mass-market version" )).
