If I recall correctly, starting in January there will be 7 or 8 more episodes and that'll be it. I do know of the "Ides of March" (March 15th). I'm not quite sure what you mean by a sign though. TIS

So are they going to just extend this season into next year? Or is it technically gonna be considered Season 7?

Awesome! I wonder if they're gonna do any two hour episodes.

If it begins airing in mid-January, eight weeks later WILL BE THE IDES! Brilliant, man...GOOD POINT.
I'm willing to bet that you're right.

Mr. Bobby Fontaine asserts... If it begins airing in mid-January, eight weeks later WILL BE THE IDES! Eight weeks later would be the Ides of MARCH. You're overlooking the Ides of January and the Ides of February. In the Romulan calendar, a copy of which Julius Caeser discarded in favor of a Daytimer, every month of the year has a date designated as the Ides. It's the 15th day in March, May, July, and October and the 13th in the other months. Neither the Ides of January nor the Ides of February fall on a Sunday in 2007, so it appears we can't beware the Ides of any month if we reasonably expect The Sopranos to return in the first quarter of 2007. In fact, the Ides won't fall on a Sunday until July 2007. Did you know the root of the word calender is Kalends which was the name for the first day of each month on the Romulan calendar? In the early 1970's, a local band called the Ides of March scored a major hit with a song called Vehicle. A grammar school teacher, doing a lesson on the origins of the calendar, suggested we research the origin of the name of the band...and 35 years later I still remember the kalends, the nones, the ides and the system for expressing each day of the month according to the rules of the Romulan calendar. For a couple of years afterwards, a few of us would occasionally express the date on an assignment that way. The message was posted on Pridies Ides Ivnivs tony b. I'm your vehicle baby, I'll take you anywhere you wanna go...

Sorry to post here, but it was at the top and this didn't seem like something worthy of its own thread. I just watched The Sopranos for the first time ever this past weekend for a couple minutes in a hotel room. What I'm wondering is how in god's name anyone can take Tony seriously with the completely stupid way he talks. Is this how Gandolfini talks in real life or is it merely an act for the show? I've been hearing about this show for years, finally try to watch an episode, and find myself having to turn it off because the star character sounds like the biggest dipshit alive! I've seen Gandolfini's image in Sopranos promotions over and over again, so I've always had this idea of what his voice would sound like, a big, tough, Italian guy from New York. Imagine the Godfather if Vito or Michael sounded like a retarded mouse who just inhaled a whole truckload of helium! Perhaps its just because I was pretty excited when I happened to be flipping through the channels and saw it was on, but doesn't anyone else find this to be completely annoying? Is it something you were all able to get used to? Was it different if you started watching at the beginning so you never had any assumptions about what Tony would sound like? Considering the show's enormous popularity, I'm aware I'm in the minority here, but it still just shocks the hell out of me that I've never heard anything about Tony's voice in all the discussion I hear about the Sopranos.
There is no theory of evolution. Just a list of creatures Chuck Norris has allowed to live.
