I would have thought that there would be some reprisal but Tony seemed to have taken that news (about Bobby getting ripped off) surprisingly well. The truth of the matter is the Mob ain't what it used to be. I had to laugh, though, at what Tony said about not even the cops go out in certain neighborhoods at night and then his look to Paulie as Paulie repeated the line later. Only a few weeks ago we see Vito and Johhny Cakes rolling around in the grass. We see Vito sitting on the side of the rocks, taking in the beauty of the scenery, the foilage, etc. Now a few episodes later we see snow on the ground! Does anyone remember the Italian feast scenes in last weeks episode?
Were they wearing winter coats, or was it still supposed to be autumn? Remember that Tony and Chris were talking about the smell of fireplaces and Chris said it smelled like Halloween. That was probably to have been late October. My guess is it was probably November in last night's episode.

One last thing anyone notice that Vito killed his cousin Jackie Jr. and that guys car he hit pretty much the same way? From behind one shot in the head in the snow. I don't know, interesting. And that's a scene that I enjoyed. Phil all pissed off about Johnny doing what he did. That's the kind of Mob shit that we all looked for and got when we originally started watching this show. Good dialogue in that scene, the kind that this show should be about. I too thought about the Jackie Jr. hit when Vito shot that guy in almost the same manner. Don Cardi

I always thought that bobby and Tony got some sort of bond after Pine Barrens. I didn't even notice that Tony still made fun of him. Maybe i didn't notice b/c i like both characters

I haven't noticed Tony making fun of Bobby recently either...this episode brought back a lot of tension from season 2 of Janice vs. Tony and Tony making fun of Bobby. The only real reason I noticed this was because I watched an episode from season two yesterday and all Tony does is make fun of Bobby's weight.

Yeah I didn't really enoy this episode as much as others. There was nothing on Chris, he's one of my favorite characters. It was mostly centered around the Brokeback Mafia stuff. I dunno, its ironic that Vito was in a position to kinda step on Tony when he was out and put doubt in everybody's mind but now he is at the very bottom. The ONLY way i could see Vito getting out of this whole mess is if he comes back and says that somebody was slandering him and beats the piss outta some lower level guy. But what i find even crazier about the Sopranos right now is that it seems like nobody's even bothered to look up any leads on Vito. The part with Johnny Sac testifying was kinda crazy though.

One moment Tony is making fun of what happened to Baccala, and treating his sister like shit, and then the next moment his conscience gets the better of him. So he takes advantage of a situation with Johnny Sac and uses it to satisfy his sister and get her off his back. How about what he did to his own wife? Pissed off because she did not have dinner on the table for him, so he tells Silvio to forget about seeing that building inspector on her behalf? What a Pr**k. But getting back to Janice, the bottom line is that she is his family, his blood, and basically this whole season has been about family. Don Cardi

This show is always on top of the details, but I dont understand this.

wow...i had no idea this board was so homophobic.
Aaaanyway, TonyWillLive, Bobby is a Lieutenant?!?
Since when has their been a position between Soldier and Capo? Sorry mate, but i think you are wrong. I have NEVER heard of any level between Captain and Soldier. Bobby was made captain of Junior's crew in Series 4. Junior was the Boss (with Tony) and Bobby got a bump to run Junior's crew...with that Merf guy his soldier. This captain thing Janice mentioned is the writers hoping we wont remember Bobby's promotion i reckon. Poor continuity.
Someone else said that Bobby became captain of the Aprille crew. This is not true. GG was made Captain of the Aprile crew after Richie was shot by Janice. Ralphie succeeded GG when he died on the loo and then Vito after Tony killed Ralphie.
Another grey area for me is Chrissie's position. He shouted "am i not a captain?" when Eugene Pontecurvo questionned his authority over a decision to whack some guy in ep.1.
If Chris is a captain...of who's crew? He was a soldier in Paulie Gaulteiri's crew...so this would normally mean that he was the captain of the Gaultieri Crew...with Paulie taking a bump to Underboss. There has been no mention of this and as such we can't just assume all this has happened. Therefore, it is again, another grey area of the hierarchy of the Soprano family.
Thats where you're wrong...out there its the 1990s. In here its 1952.

Originally posted by SC: Once again, I don't understand how some think this show isn't good. Last night's episode was a wonderful character insightful show. This season we're really getting to see the void of any real character that these guys have.
Tony leads the pack - he dresses down Sal, the gardener, for trying to get out of doing free work for Johnny Sac (while Sac is stuck in jail) yet he (Tony) has no qualms about taking advantage of that situation to beat Sac out of his house.
We later see how Tony is a victim of emotional blackmail (by Janice). She argues that the two of them have no real connection other than their shared DNA so Tony starts feeling guilty and does that "steal-the-house-from Johnny" thing (when he should have left better alone).
Tony is a selfish prick. He purposely backs out of helping Carmela because Carmela's dream (of building the spec house) is infringing on her time of serving him.
Vito did some soul searching and realized he missed the life too much (his "real" life). The sex aside, he misses the action and the easy money. He knows he's not cut out to be a "normal" person with a "normal" job. It'll be interesting to see how his return to Jersey fares for him (although I expect that won't be known until the final show of the season).
Great writing. Great insight. Great acting. I think that adds up to a great show. SC i completely agree with you about this episode. Your posts are always the best to read. They are well thought out and balanced. I often find myself quite frustrated with how narrow minded some people who write on here can be.
