OK, let me get this straight. In the past, the boxed sets have always gone for 79 bucks each. 13 episodes, great material, nice extras, etc.
Now, we only get 12 episodes, not 13, and this was also by far the worst season the show (I'm not saying it was bad or unwatchable, but if you rank them one through six, this season is definitely last). For this, we get to pay 100 bucks?
HBO can fuck off. I'll wait a year from now when it's on sale.

One of my co-workers has a cousin who appeared in several episodes (actor John Bianco who played one of Frank Vincent's crew - one of the guys who killed Vito) and she told me her cousin wasn't being asked back for the final season because many of the characters weren't being included in the finale. I hope this final season won't be the equivalent of "Godfather Part III". I dvr'ed all of Season 6 and I may just end up transferring those episodes to DVD instead of buying the over-priced set being offered by HBO. Anyway, Chris, this past season was somewhat less than normal (on the boards) because you didn't post your usual good insights. How's the baby doing?

Hey SC. Yeah, I also DVRed all of the episodes and recorded them on tape, too. Jacking up the price to 100 bucks is a little outrageous, all things considered. Stores like Target and Best Buy always have clearance sales when the boxed sets have been available for a while (in fact, there's a Target store near me selling the earlier seasons for 50 bucks a crack), so I have no problem waiting until then. My daughter Mya is doing great! She's 13 months old now, and she's been walking for four months already! We're in trouble! Yeah, I wish I still had the time to do the episode reviews. It was fun to do that. Overall, Season Six wasn't the best one, but it still had some real good episodes (the debut episode and "Mr & Mrs John Sacrimoni Request", most notably) I'd have liked to dissect.

I'm confused here. I saw the set in Target. It says Season Six part One on the box? And it was like $59 What does this mean Part one? Are they considering season 7 part 2 of season 6 ? I sure hope that it's not only half of season 6 in that set being sold for the same price as past full season sets. This David Chase is a f**king weirdo if you ask me. Don Cardi

SC posted this in another thread... One of the reviewers (who evidently get pre-release copies of the DVD) has answered your questions. His review is copied below:
**************************************************
Reviewer: Jeffrey A. Lunt -
Many people are complaining about the purchase price of this collection of 12 episodes (with 8 episodes on the way). People are whinning because every season has been 13 episodes in length. Also, keep in mind that the series is not yet finished; 8 more episodes will debut in 2007. Season 6 will be 20 episodes total (in case you can't count... 12 + 8 = 20).
Consider the total running time of this collection: 12 episodes at 720 minutes. This is signifficant...
Here's the breakdown:
Season 1: 680 minutes in 13 episodes Season 2: 780 minutes in 13 episodes Season 3: 780 minutes in 13 episodes Season 4: 800 minutes in 13 episodes Season 5: 780 Minutes in 13 episodes Season 6, Part 1: 720 minutes in 12 episodes Season 6, Part 2: --- Minutes in 8 episodes
Stop complaining about this pricetag on this set! The price is well worth the cost when you consider the running time! Season 6, Part 1 was just as good as Seasons 2,3,4, and 5.
The show had me laughing aloud even though I was the only person watching at my home. The show imroves with age; The Sopranos are here to stay (even IF the series is drawing to a close). One thing I will agree with Mr. Lunt on is the fact that The Sopranos does indeed improve with age!!!

http://tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=6630Sopranos, The - Hi-Def For The Holidays: HD-DVD & Blu-ray! Posted by David Lambert 11/22/2006 A few weeks back we http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=6517 reported that the HD-DVD version of The Sopranos - Season 6, Vol. 1 had been delayed. It previously was supposed to come out on Nov. 7th, along with the standard DVD release, but HBO pushed it back with no word on a new date...at least, there wasn't at that time. For the past week there have been indications that HBO Home Video would try to get this out in time for the Christmas holiday season, and now the studio has confirmed that this is the case. Both HD-DVD and Blu-ray versions will be in stores on December 19th, at $129.95 SRP for either one. So fans of the show can ask to get this under the tree, and have themselves a merry hi-def Christmas!
