at first it was cool with the wedding pictures that was zooming on the screen, and when it said the godfather I was happy, but then the trailer starts to tell the whole story from the begining until it ends with that zooming shit, almost got a headeche...

I hate the godfather trailer. Like you said it tells the whole story anyone who hasnt seen the movie will know exactly what happens. Its shows Apollonia and Michael married and then it shows her car blown up. People will know exactly what happens. And not to mention the trailer is like 3 and a half minutes long.

Hate is a hard word...I like the word dislike.

I wish I could say the same.But then I learned that to show true emotion,hate shows it best of all.

The trailer for the Godfather was very weak, but that was the way most of the trailers in the 70's were like. Don Mataya said people will know what was going to happen, but remember, the Godfather was the highest selling book in the 70's and most people had read the book already. So the content of the movie didn't matter to the fans. But I have to admit, it did start getting really dumb when it showed Sonny's death on the causeway.
But how about that Godfather II trailer. Is that good or what. I get chills watching it. That is one of the best trailers I have ever seen. Godfather III's is pretty damn good too.

I agree. Part II's trailer WAS what influenced me to watch the movie. I can see how Michael grew up, and I liked how they put the last scene of Michael staring off to nowhere in the ad. Looks evil...

The Godfather II trailer scared me more than the actual movie!

e.g. Pentangeli's death, assasination failure of Roth, etc.

I agree with you, the trialer for the first one is a little nauseating.
I liked the second one but it made me laugh a little when they said the "final" part in the godfather saga

The trzilers in the 70s did show most of the story, I mean, look at 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre' trailer, it explained the whole story, adn gavea away the'scary bits'.

I didn't like The Godfather trailer, Part II and III's were good, but I's wrecked head...

Most trailers in the 70's did not show most of the movie. The trailor for Exorist, Jaws, Star Wars, Cookoo Nest told nothing of the storyline. I have to agree the Godfather trailors really sucked and is perhaps the worse trailers I have ever seen...Part two was laughable. If anyone remember the preview for the Godfather: Complete novel for Television, they were great.

GF III had a great trailer...it was perhaps better than the movie. I reamember in Summer 1990, I would watch that awful, Days of Thunder just to see the GF III trailer.

one and two were terrible. three was awesome. by '90, they had finally figured out how to do trailers!

When I said that I thought that the trailer was actually scarier than the movie, was because of the whole "Vito Corleone and his heir Micheal- both men of ice!" It just seems so off from the actual movie. It shows them like Satan reincarnate. Maybe it was just to excite people to see it, because of the violence, not by the actual plot. It just seemed funny to me.

Anyways,I wouldnt mind scaring everyone off.

I thought III's trailer was the best. I almost cried while watching it, it was that good. It was almost better than the movie itself.

Even though a lot of people had already read the book and therefore knew the plot of The Godfather, they didn't have to go ruin it for everyone else who hadn't seen it yet...I'm sure that there were tons of people who fit in that category.
