I have been lucky enough to visit 7 of the new generation ballparks:

Cincinnati
Pittsburgh
Baltimore
Denver
Chicago
Milwaukee
and just last week to the new one in Philadelphia. They are all great (Coors Field is probably my least favorite of them). The new park in Philly is a great place to watch a game. Every seat is good, you are close to the field and there is much better food available than at the Vet. It's pricey, but it's first class all the way.

That's pretty cool. You're able to get a feel for the game of baseball, but from different perspectives as far as the fan goes. I was a softie for Memorial Stadium, so I find Camden Yards to be too "corporate". Although, beings I only work 3 blocks from the staduim the place is kind of old to me.

I agree with Coors field. I've never seen it in person, but watching it on tv the field looked like an ugly pair of plaid pants.

I LIKE Coors! Except for the time I got hit in the calf by the foul ball ...

Don't worry, I ain't gonna relive it here

Of course I go to Denver and Arizona pretty much every time the Dodgers play more than a few times in a year

My goal is to visit every football and baseball stadium before I die. Sure hope I live for a few more years.

I've pretty much tackled the western league stadiums in addition to stadiums in Florida, Louisiana, Texas, Colorado, etc. Seems everytime I fly back east, I am too short on time to attend games. I have been to Komiskey but not Wrigley. I have plans to see Wrigley later this year and am planning a trip to SBC - the new one in San Fran later as well. My favorite of all time has always been the now defunct Candlestick (it will ALWAYS be Candlestick to me ) but I think I just have a soft spot for San Fran because it is my birthplace. Not to mention it was/is an awesome park.

Here in San Diego, the new ballpark (Petco Park) has done wonders for the dwontown area. What was once a place notorious for strip clubs and check cashing joints has changed into this place for families to enjoy. The whole area has been remodeled, and is a great place to catch a game. Even the Padres are playing a bit better than they did at Qualcomm Stadium!

I love the way the new stadiums have that "old-fashioned" touch to them. It really allows the fans to appreciate the game more, and brings back some of that magic that baseball used to have. You guys should come here to sunny San Diego- it's a wonderful place to be (besides the expensive housing/gas prices).

I love to vacation in Mission Bay. The Bahia Resort to be exact.

While I haven't been to SD for a few years and haven't seen the refurbished stadium, I like to go down and see the Padres in AZ spring training every year.

Ah, another one on my list

Glad you enjoyed the new ballpark. I've only been there I think once for a game. I was on a class trip for the end of my 8th grade year -- it was a great time. The ballpark is really nice, and its nice to sit and look at even if your not a big fan of baseball, like me.

I just had my first visit to the park weekend prior to last. I agree it really is a great stadium, opps 'ballpark'. The woman that was hooking me up with tickets 'goofed' and there was some issues at the Will Call window that prevented me from getting in until after the game started though  , so I didn't get a chance to walk around as much as I would have liked. I heard great things about Bull's BBQ, did you get a chance to make your way over there?

And I agree with you on the prices though - very expensive. We hit McFadden's which is part of the stadium after the game - that place is a goldmine, it is a club with music, drinks etc - I would love to know what they paid to get hooked into the stadium like they are, that place is massive.

Overall great place to watch a game if anyone ever gets in the area.

As long as Tropicana Field isn't mentioned in context with other "good" parks, this thread will be fine.

I love Citizens Bank Park. I'll be there this Wednesday against the Expos with my girlfriend and two buddies. The best part is the bullpen viewing area. You can stand right over it and are literally 10 feet from the opposing team pitchers. Fans heckle the hell out of them. When a guy is warming up, they'll yell "your fastball is Billy Wagner's change-up!"

Lincoln Financial Field is also great.

I wanted to head over to the "Bull's Barbeque" but the lines were too long. We made a stop in South Philly to get some cheesesteaks at both Pat's and Geno's (so we could compare them) and then headed over to the park.

My only complaint (if you could call it that) was that so many of the fans aren't paying any attention to the game and are distracted by the other attractions in the place.

I must admit, last night I was one of those people walking around. But I have a good reason... Deanna D (my girl) wanted to walk around. She is not a baseball fan at all. She would bring a book to my high school games this year. We left our seats after the 1st inning and didn't get back until the 7th.

STOP!! You are giving us men a bad name now. One more post like this and we'll get Geoff to change your name from Freddie C to Whipped Freddie :p

Now I don't want to see any more talk like this from you from this point forward.

After reading my post, I thought it did sound kinda bad. She made it worth my while when we got back to her house.

That's better, still a ways to go after your intial post - but certainly an improvement.

Geoff, might want to hold off on the name change for now. :p

I might be just a bit partial but nothing beats the SkyDome in my book.
