"Red Sox RHP Curt Schilling, 38, plans to retire when his contract expires at the end of the 2007 season. Schilling, in an interview that will appear on FOX Sports Net Across America on February 20, says he will not play past age 40 in an attempt to strengthen his Hall of Fame credentials. By playing only three more seasons, he likely would fall short of the 66 victories he needs to reach 250. Schilling, however, says his family will come first."

WOO HOO, soon it'll be "ding dong, the witch is dead!"

If he gets 15+ wins and 175+ strikeouts his next two seasons and/or the Bosox win the Series again I think he will make the Hall Of Fame.

I agree with Don Jasani here. Schilling has had a great career, and looks like he can still dominate for the next 3 years. Plus, the fact that he played such a huge role in reversing "The Curse" gives even more power to him. I strongly believe that he will be first ballot Hall of Famer.

Absolutely, Curt is a first-ballot lock.

The guy could retire today and be in the HOF. He's been consistently good throughout most of his career and has two rings.

I don't care if he makes it to the Hall of Fame. I know he'll make it. I'm just happy that I only have to put up with him for another 3 seasons (in which Boston WILL NOT win another World Series)

I wouldn't worry too much - he's not going to last another 3 years physically. He'll either a) retire before the 3 years are up or b) spend much of that time on the DL

We can only hope goombah. I was just thinking earlier though that Houston's probably gonna trade Clemens away before the trading deadline and I remember last year hearing that he'd either go to New York or Boston. If that happens, the Yanks better do EVERYTHING in their power to get him back. I'd rather see him rot in Houston, but between that and him going to Boston, I'd rather see him in New York

i know this is a little off topic and a little old but i have to vent because schilling is an idiot. he said in an interview that terrell owens was being selfish for playing with an injury. its like hello, you were the one playing with an injury as well so thats making you selfish. just had to vent, but back to the topic at hand im glad to see the dude retire, just one less hair on the yanks back.

I wouldn't be surpised if Schilling retired, but then un-retired to pitch for the Phils.

even if Schilling become the worst pitcher of the MLB I think he deserves a spot in the Hall of Fame just by snapping the curse.
