Are you going to tell us what happened, or...??
I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! lol Whaddaya want me to do? Whack a guy? Off a guy? Whack off a guy? --Peter Griffin My DVDs | Facebook | Godfather Filming Locations

I thought some other people would have heard about it. Just go to ESPN or FoxSports . They've got them on there. Sorry, I assumed people had heard what they said.

No matter how good this season may be for the Yankees, I do not think that will ever get as publicized as last year's Red Sox team. It was a greater achievement with a larger magnitude.

They can't understand the frustration of coming so close so many times and then having the season get robbed from them in the last few days. They can't understand the frustration of waiting for 86 years to get the big title. The Yankees are EXPECTED to win. They have the big payroll; they have the big names. What fun is there in rooting for them? Do I expect the Sox to repeat? Hell no! They'll be damned lucky to just to make any playoffs. They haven't done squat to strengthen their team in this past winter. But, nobody can take the '04 championship season away from them. Yankee fans can't understand that.

Except for every year since 2000. :p But yeah, of course, I don't know exactly what a BoSox fan has gone through, waiting 86 -- EIGHTY SIX -- years! But, I do get the jist of it, I think. I never felt bitter about losing, or bitter that the Sox won. I said it then, and I say it now: the Sox deserved to win. They won't again anytime soon, but, they deserved it last year. (Well, part of me just thinks the Yanks (i.e., Rivera, again) blew it -- like so many other times -- but hey, I'm reaching out here! ) But what I don't understand is, why I12 couldn't copy/paste what was said - cuz it's not the headline any more -- and a year from now if someone's looking at this thread, it still won't be. :p

I don't really watch local news on TV. I assume this is the shit he was talking about. As for Wells -- I like him, as a player and a partier (lol). But if that scumbag -- or ANYONE -- could possibly have anything bad to say about Torre, then, well, he - is - my - enemy! :p But, I don't believe it. He's never been classless as far as I've known him.

Here's some of an article written from wire reports on Feb 18th:
*************************************************
After switching sides and joining the Boston Red Sox, David Wells quickly had some choice words for the New York Yankees. Wells reported to spring training in Tampa, Fla., yesterday, saying Alex Rodriguez "has to earn it" and saying he didn't get along with Yankees manager Joe Torre. Wells, who helped New York win two American League pennants and one World Series, wasn't pleased with some of Rodriguez's remarks.
"I remember reading the press conference or something when he went there," Wells said. "He said: 'When we.' He said a 'we' in his comment about like he's won like three or four rings with them and he hadn't, and that kind of disturbed me.
"He shouldn't put himself in that category," Wells added. "You've got to earn it. It's like he's been there the whole time. But you can't take away what A-Rod has done for the game. He's a great player, and he will continue to be a great player."
As for Torre, Wells said: "I've never had a good relationship with Joe."

Okay: First of, Fort Myers isn't that close to Tampa (where the YANKS practice). Secondly, I'm sure the lifelong Yankee fan that Wells is was just being defensive and jealous that A-Rod's on the team and he isn't. I'm not gonna say that Wells isn't being childish, but, I'm sure it's biting his ass. Thirdly, his comment about Torre... that's probably because he got ragged out for going out drinking and shit. Natural reaction. Wells just sounded like an idiot. So be it - been there, done that!

As for A-Rod, I'm not gonna defend him cuz he really didn't perform last year. He was bordering on a liability for a long while. A-la Giambi.
Perhaps it's busting his ass that his best friend is Captain and he had to give up that title after a short while. But f-im. Show us something first, big shot!
But I don't hate the guy. I'll give him another chance. NY is a tough city to play in -- regardless of boro -- and regardless of the fact that George likes washed-up "names" -- A-Rod isn't washed up yet. But the pressure does get to A LOT of great players who go there.
See: Cansuco, Fielder, Giambi, Knoblockhead, ...

A Brooklyn Dodger fan such as yourself surely should have made the transition to rooting for the Mets. Just think, you would have had a championship in 1969 instead of waiting until 2004! Don Cardi

Geoff, In defense of A-Rod's declining numbers last season, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt because changing from SS to 3B is a big transition, it affects your play overall mentally and it probably takes a season to fall into the new position. But as for the pressure of playing in New York, true that many cannot handle it, but this guy is being paid the big $$'s to handle playing under the "pressure" here. Don Cardi

So would I. But not for $25 million a year.
A Rod had a good season by any standards, except the standard of what he was paid.
Based on his contract, I consider him a bust last year.

How many teams in MLB would turn those kinds of stats away? If I owned a team and a player guaranteed those kinds of numbers, I'd sign him in a heartbeat! Don Cardi [/b][/quote]Exactly! And that was an off year for him. Wait until he has a more productive year. He just needed to get used to playing in the atmosphere that is New York. Now with this being his 2nd season, I think he'll be more comfortable. I don't think he'll still post numbers like he did in Texas (50+ home runs, I don't know if he'll ever do that again), but I predict he should hit over 40 this year.

It sounds like there are alot of people on the board who knows alot about baseball. This is kinda of topic but I want other peoples opinion on the Detroit Tigers. They made some pretty good offseason moves the last two years. Im just curious to see what you guys think. Thanks
Leonard: I dont know. See, I have this condition. Teddy: Well, I hope its not as serious as his, 'cos this guy's dead.
