San Francisco holds first pick in 2005 draft NEW YORK -- The San Francisco 49ers will make the first choice of the 2005 National Football League Draft on April 23-24. The 49ers' choice will be followed by the Miami Dolphins picking second and Cleveland Browns third. Draft-order ties are resolved by the cumulative record of each team's opponents. The team with the weaker opponents receives drafting priority. Within a tied segment, non-playoff clubs are given priority over playoff clubs. Priority of playoff clubs within a tied segment are based on their advancement in the playoffs unless they participated in the Super Bowl. The NFL champion Patriots select 32nd with the runner-up Eagles 31st. 2005 NFL FIRST-ROUND DRAFT ORDER Strength

I love this time of year. As much as I hate having no NFL games, other substitutes have helped. Free Agency has started well, look at the Raiders' new additions. As much as Collins is mocked, you know he can throw a good deepball and when the DB's back off you'll see Jordon gaining good yardage.
Even the Browns have got the ball rolling, good coaching personnel changes and with Crennel comes Andruzzi.
Green Bay has lost two starting guards. Will this influence Favre's retirement decision?
Now the draft, forgive me, but I'm only really up to date with the top players. Still FA to go but I'm excited to see where the top RB's WR's and DB's go and how the combine has affected peoples mock drafts. Less excitement around the QB pool this year. Questions have arisen from their height and arm strength.
I'd like to ask everyone, who's your team, what are your needs and who would you like to see drafted?

I'm excited to see what my Cowboys will do with 2 1st round picks. Hey Iceman The Cowboys are my second favorite team. I read an article on Yahoo Sports claiming Parcells is on the hot seat & that this is probably his last year. Have you heard anything along those lines? The article claimed that Parcells has lost the players' respect and that the Tuna doesn't believe in Henson at all.
I haven't heard anything about that. But it wouldn't surprise me since the Cowboys signed Drew Bledsoe. No way in hell is he the answer at QB. This tells me that Parcells wants to win and now. Now as for Bill not believing in Henson, well I don't blame him in that case. Cause neither do I.

The Packers absolutely need to address their holes in the secondary in this year's draft. They lost Darren Sharper to the rival Vikings, and their young corners arent showing many signs of life right now. I don't want Favre to go out on a horrible season.
As far as my second team (San Diego Chargers) goes, I am anxious to see what they do with their two 1st-Round picks. The trade for Eli Manning last year has seemed to work out for both sides so far.

Get no one of any particular value. :p
You know, I actually agree. First rounders are generally associated as being high impact players and get at least a considerable amount of starting time (except maybe QB's) even if it is on special teams. By 30th all the top CB's will be gone which will probably see us taking a DL - Shaun Cody? There's a lot of talk of Heath Miller and Matt Jones but as far as I thought, Miller should be gone by then (unless his injury has dropped him that much) and Matt Jones is realistically a versatile 2nd or 3rd rounder. Our Steeler fans seem obsessed with getting another Randle El or Ward, guys who can play receiver but were QB's. You live closer to it all Goombah and work with a Steeler fan. Has he expressed his opinions on the draft?
