I think he'll go back to the Lakers. But I think the bigger question is: Why will Phil Jackson go?? The man already has 9 championships and a load of money. He does not need to go back unless coaching in the NBA really has a grip on him. The fact that he's still seeing Jerry Buss' daughter tells me that he will likely go to LA rather than NY. Both teams are projects, but the Lakers are actually better off as far as contracts go.
This could get interesting real soon.

I know Shaq's absence was a BIG part of why the Lakers sucked this season, but I also think Phil had something to do with it. A good coach is like a good director in a movie. You can have a bunch of good actors or players, but without the right person bringing it all together, it doesn't really work. I only went to about six home games this year.... that's how DULL they were. Usually I'd go a lot more often. Here's hoping for a good next season. I absolutely agree. Some people criticize Phil because he earned all of his championships with "loaded" teams like the Bulls of the 90s and of course, the Lakers. I don't think he got enough credit for what he did as far as keeping the team together. It's amazing that Kobe and Shaq were able to play together for as long as they did, and I thank Phil for keeping that nucleus in place. If he comes back to LA next year, I will not expect a championship right away, but I think the Lakers will definitely be a better team than they were this year,

This season proved 100% that it's not about Kobe; it's about the team and the coach. I don't know which Lakers you were watching to come to your conclusion, but the ones in L.A. sucked this season. They had the worst record they've had in 11 years. Three years ago, they were 58-24. This year they were 34-48, I think. It sounds to me like we're well on our way to "not sticking around" already without Shaq and Jackson.

Boink...boink...boink. Yeah, I love the way it just rolls of my tongue. Did you see the press conference? Phil stated that in his book...........can you say "plug"....that after about February or March of last year Kobe and he had better communication, and became easier to be around. He more or less said that is girlfriend was "supportive" of his decision. I guess he didn't want to be a wuss and say she wears the pants in the family and more or less told him to go back. At least that's the feeling I got.
How about a little less questions and a lot more shut the hell up - Brian Griffin

[/b][/quote]If theres a diaster Im sure theyll still remove Jackson FAR before theyd dream of touching Kobe. Kobe is Jerry Buss's golden boy. Hes going to change anything and everything EXCEPT Kobe to make the Lakers win. I dont think they will win until Kobe changes his game, which I dont see happening. Phil isnt going to improve this team a whole lot, because the game is going to be played Kobes way. That was what I meant
