Originally posted by thebadguytm: what about loyalty Funny, how I never heard any Sox fans complaining about loyalty when Damon went from KC to Oakland, nor did I hear any outcry when he left Oakland to join the Sox! I guess it's alright to sell out for the money as long as it's for your hometown team. Give me a break! I'm neither a Yankees nor Red Sox fan, but at least the Yankees admit that what they are. The Red Sox continually try to play themselves off as some small market team who gets burned by the Yankees big spending. Keep dreaming! At least the Yankees are good at what they do. I agree with Red Sox fans that I would love to see the type of success the Yankees would have in an NFL type league, but the fact of the matter is MLB is not the NFL. The Red Sox have tried for years to emulate the Yankees, and actually succeeded once. Just because you failed this year doesn't give any Sox fan any right to complain about inequity.
There is no theory of evolution. Just a list of creatures Chuck Norris has allowed to live.

Wow, you think this transaction is being hyped just a little bit? Come opening day Johnny Damon is going to have the weight of the world on his shoulders. If he does not have a better season than he had last year (.316, 117 R, 197 H, 10 HR, 75 RBI, 53 BB, 18 SB) and/or the Boston Red Sox end the season with a better record than the New York Yankees the blame is gonna fall squarely on the man from Fort Riley, Kansas. This won't happen, but it would be pretty funny if the Orioles win the A.L. East next year, the Tampa Bay Devil Rays win the A.L. Wildcard and the Blue Jays, Yankees and Red Sox finish 3,4,5 in the East.
