We had a fantasy game in which you had to pick the winners of all the bowl games. Surprised none of you guys played.
MaryCas won. Here are tonight's predictions from our peerless prognosticators
MaryCas, USC 34-28 plawrence, USC 48-38 Scarface Tony Montana, USC 30-27 DonMichaelCorleone, USC 38-24 JustLou, USC 31-24 Spike716, USC (N/A) Jimmy Buffer, USC 34-28 Don Andrew, USC 37-33
and
J Geoff Malta, a/k/a JG, Texas 36-34
Whoever wins, it should be a good one. Of course, the BCS Championship game looks like it should be a good one every year.

Why would they go for a FG?
That would still leave them trailing, with not enough time left to get the ball back and score again.

Exciting finish to an exciting game, and a rarity: Something that lived up to its advance billing.
Congrats to the Longhorns.

Originally posted by Don Andrew: Let me guess, they don't deserve it, right? Good one, DA. I was listening to Mike & Chris this afternoon (NYC sportstalk radio hosts), and one of the callers made an interesting point. They suggested that after USC failed on their 4th quarter 4th & 2 attempt, they should have realized that whoever got the ball last in this game, if if they got it with a reasonable amount of time left vis a vis their field position, they would win. So the suggestion was that USC should have let Texas score as quickly as possible, allowing them (USC) to have control of the ball and the clock at the end of the game, and march to the inevitable game-winning score, rather than let Texas do it. Interesting idea. I remember something similar in a GB-Denver Super Bowl around 7-8 years ago.

I actually watched this entire game, and it's the first football game I've watched completely since my school's season ended. Shows what an exciting game it was if it kept this baseball fan interested. I, unfortunately, don't know much about football, but I had a great time watching this. Both teams have talent, obviously - though I was (naturally) rooting for Texas to begin with, I do believe they did "deserve" to win, and I know that all of the dedicated, true blue fans were happy to see their team win. So I think they deserved it, too. Good for them. Anyway, this game certainly sparked my interest in football. And not just for the cute guys in tight uniforms.
