i love it too!! I mean it doesn't have the darkness of the first one but it's still a part of their lives, I think it would be a good idea to either make a GF4 with darker themes and with Vicent as don, with flash backs of something, or to go into the past of Vito cuz in the book it sounds really interesting how he made it to don etc.
but I love GF3 too!

Gotta' go with Turi. There are a few of us who like GF III ( very few! ). But out of those few, one would be hard pressed to find one who likes the third one over the other two. I like it, but it's not in the same league...and it's a totally different theme.

TheGodfatheress, the only reason you like it is because you love Andy Garcia. You told me yourself you haven't even seen part I or II.

The Godfather Part III is a disappointment and in some ways, pathetic but, I loves seeing the Corleone saga carry on, very entertaining, although it is incredibly inferior to its masterpiece predessesors. Pacino was brilliant, Garcia was fair, and of course Sofia Coppola was crap. Still, maybe we should cut her some slack, The Virgin Suicides was good....eugH, it's good, but nothing to Part I and II. Godfather 1 is the best of the trilogy, i tend to find that godfather 2 tends 2 drag on, a bit to long if you ask me,
Godfather 3 is simply a summary of whats happened in the other 2 films, and an ending to the trilogy.
the only godfather 3 part that is better then the other 2 is the DVD, the picture is clearer, colours are better
otherwise sorry, but godfather 3 pails in comparassen to the other 2, maybe because of the bad actors although pacino is still present, actos like sofia coppola really just put the film down.
Godfather 3 COULD have been better than the other 2 if it actually HAD a storyline and possibly a better cast.
But anyway, 2 each his own,
Last Don

The more I watch GF3 the more I like it,but maybe thats just familiarity !!! Anyway, I agree with MFM about the emotional scenes. By that I mean when Michael dies at the end, not when Mary dies tho that is sad too. I could cry at the end with the flashbacks and everything, and the music just finishes me off. FH

AND, yes I do like andy garcia BUT, I still think it's a good part, it may be a little underwritten but I reckon that's cuz there isn't a book for it like there was for part one. and I have Seen part one, so there ! lol! Becka p.s I think sofia was a little wooden but the script wasn't too good and I don't think it gave even pacino enough to work with, maybe they should have waited until there was enough funding etc....*thinks*

Apple[/b]I agree with the whole deal of the miscasts. Yes it was contrived but at least it was better than most movies with a similar genre. How could you have created the plot? If you were given a chance. By the way, was there a time you were served a fillet mignon on a garbage can cover? In my opinion GF III was the weakest of the trilogy because its predecessors were more realistic and well casted. A regards to comparing the Godfather III to other films, I am sure it can hold up by itself.

The only thing that supposedly makes it 'better' than movies with 'similar genre', it that it had the advantage of being a Godfather sequel, made by the origingal GF writers/director and starring some of the original GF cast. Without these connections it would've probably been a dismal failure. How would I have created the plot? For one thing I've stated here before that either of Connie's children could've easily been utilized as Michael's potential successor, as opposed to the ridiculousness of creating Santino's illegitimate son. I would probably have not included the absurd story of Mary falling in love with her own cousin. As for the 'garbage can lid', no I've never been served a dinner that way. It was a fabulous analagy used on The Cosby Show, when one of the daughter's abruptly announces she's engaged to a man her parents had never met and didn't even know she was dating. When she brings him over to meet them, despite his being a very nice young man, they do not appreciate the manner in which he was introduced. Cosby tells him that he has just been presented to them like a steak dinner on a garbage can lid. You got any more questions for me, Daniel Corleone? Apple

One of the things that made the original two so great was the cast. Not to mention there was more concistancy to the plot. The third one was alright but the first was and always will be the best. Not that it could have been helped much. It's hard to make a descent sequel 16 years after the last one. Most of the original cast was dead. Only seven people were in all three.

Just thougt you experienced it, good thing you saw it on a tv show.
