I looked at the date earlier this evening and suddenly remembered...it is 7 years ago today that I boarded a plane headed for China and the adoption of my beautiful daughter, who is now almost 8 years old!

In a few more days, on Oct 27th it will be the anniversary of the first time I held her in my arms. Initially calm, she began to cry because everyone in the group was taking our picture and the camera flashes must've scared her.

Although being a single mom ain't easy in MANY ways...it is by far the BEST thing I ever did.

Just thought I'd mention it since the Gangster BB is currently the ONLY relevant message board of which I am a member.

When you took that kid in your arms for the first time, I'll bet that it was the best day of your life.

I applaud you for adopting that child and raising her on your own. That takes a lot of courage.

Being a parent has been one of the greatest experiences in my life and from what you've said yours too.

I applaud you for your love and dedication to your child. Being a single parent has to be very difficult at times but very rewarding in many aspects as well.

Being adopted myself, I just want to congratulate you for having tons of love in your heart to adopt a baby especially a baby from another country. She is a very lucky little girl.

What LOVELY responses!!! Honestly, I didn't expect that many and to the depth of good wishes they have come.

SC, you are right about the 'real-life' threads; whether happy or sad, they tend to bring out the true cameraderie if not outright friendship that's generated (for the most part) by the Gangster BB.

The petty, argumentative issues, though more common, are truly dwarfed in comparison.

October 24 is very special to me as well. My youngest child and only daughter was born on that date in 1997. I can't imagine life without her, and I'm sure you know that feeling.
