This farce of a "part 2" of Series 6 has moved one step closer to being a series in its own right: One more episode has been commissioned, bringing the total up to 9 episodes. http://uk.tv.ign.com/articles/746/746914p1.html

I think the wait is doing a diservice to the viewers. People lose intyerst and the big hype of the season is a let down and anticlimatic..look at last season..quite a disapointment

I've heard from numerous places that after the series ends that David Chase will try to make a Sopranos movie. I'll look it up, but like you I am sad this show is going to end. A&E will start airing Season 1-6 in January.

Well David Chase never intended for the series to surpass five seasons let alone six and possibly a film. If Chase wanted the actors to reprise their roles it would only take a lot of one thing...MONEY! Actors who say they have lost desire in a show is their way of saying, "I want more money!"

I wonder if the movie would take over where the series left off or start from scratch in terms of the narrative. If Chase is contemplating a movie then Tony must live. Otherwise they really would have to write a completely new story. Exactly, but the last episode's preliminary title is "End of the Line." Now that could mean something or nothing, just as the misleading title, "A hit is a hit," which had to deal with music, not a gang hit. Either way, I'm very excited to see the final episodes, but saddened that the series will end.

All I know is that they have already completed filming 6 of the 9 episodes and will begin re-shooting in early January. I read this a while back and will look for the link.

Who do you guys want to die the most. My vote goes for Phil or Johnny Sac. Gotta be a tie between Phil, Artie Bucco, and whoever is a rat that we hav yet to find out. The character I least want to die (outside of Tony, of course) is PAULLIEEEEEEE!!! He's hilarious, too bad they gave his character cancer......

I doubt we will see much of Johnny Sac at all this season, I really hate how Chase just put him in prison for 15 years. I think there will be a war between Phil and Tony. I like most of the characters...except for Artie Bucco.
Odds for Death for the Final 9
Paulie Walnuts (cancer) 2-1 Benny Fazio (typical war time casualtie) 4-1 Tony Soprano(it is the final season...) 6-1 Carlo Gervasi (see Benny Fazio) Phil Leotardo (I want to see him dead!) 10-1 Bobby Baccala (Phil wants to take down a high ranking Soprano member.) 12-1

It seems as if Christopher is the favorite to get killed every season so I have given up that theory. He is has always been on drugs outside of Season 5, and I think he is only dead after this season is if he overdoses on drugs. As for Johnny Sac, you're right, I think he may commit suicide in prison. It's a shame what Chase did to finish off his character, he was too important just to throw in prison but I regress.

Though I do agree that they HAVE to end the series' with a war. There have been no real big wars in the series yet.

Well I think there is a better chance of Tony getting whacked by Phil than there vice versa. As for the wars that have been on the show. The war between Junior and Tony was indeed small, but Little Carmine vs Johnny Sac in season five was a big war. Most of the season centered around it.

True, but I meant that we have yet to see a NY-NJ war. There was that Carmine Sr. and Tony quarrell over the HUD profits, but that never escalated the way the infighting of Sack-Little Carmine did. I think thats how it should end, with Tony's crew in an all out war. Im interested to see how Tony would handle such a situation.

Judging by how he took care of Junior in their little war I would guess. Kill a couple of high ranking members would be my guess since in season one he had Chucky Signor and Mickey Palmice whacked. However, with there only being nine episodes the war would have to start in episode one or two or it will be season four all over again!
