I'm a cat person. My cat, OzzieBoy, doesn't live with me. I live with him! I like dogs too, and if I had the time and room for one I'd invite one to live with me as well, but cats hold a special place in my heart. They're aloof; they want things on their terms, and often get what they want; they're graceful and agile and when they CHOOSE to show you affection you KNOW its real! My OzzieBoy has been with me for almost 16 years now. We've been through some really rough times together but his love for me has always been unconditional. Sure, I feed him and take care of him, but he more than "earns" his keep by his companionship. He greets me every night when I come home from work and we have our little routine of me picking him up, talking to him, brushing him, etc. He'll follow me around, waiting patiently for a little more attention and when its time for bed he'lll jump up onto it and cuddle next to me, making sure he's close to me. I can't imagine life without him. Here's a shot of him (I'm holding him) as Lori's daughter (then 5 years old - about 4 years ago) looks on:

We had a cat for 15 years. She was mean and nasty, often biting and hissing at anyone who came close. The only person she liked was Mr. Babe. She was, however, very, very beautiful. The kids always wanted a dog, but we told them that Sterliing would never allow one in the house. When she passed away unexpectedly 4 years ago, they cried for about 15 minutes, and after we had buried her in the backyard, they asked for a dog.
We now have Angel, who looks like a long-haired dachsund with legs. We rescued her from a shelter, and she had been abused. Therefore, she is totally neurotic, and we went through a horrible first year with her, as she suffered from separation anxiety. After 4 months of puppy Prozac, she finally adjusted to the fact that when we left the house, we would eventually return. However, she is still quite needy, and often looks for love and reassurance.
We also have a cockatiel named Shirley. After my daughter named it Shirley, we realized by his coloring that he was male. Mr. Babe feels that this makes him insecure, and constantly calls him Big Man to bolster his masculinity (the bird's, not his own).
We also have a lovely little cat named Stella. She's sweet and adorable and rather loving. Quite a difference from our first cat! She came to live with us last July, and she loves to torture Angel by hiding and then pouncing on her unexpectedly, just to prove the feline's superiority to the canine.
We also have several fish, who Stella likes to torture by peering into their tank.
We like to say that we have the entire food chain - the bird would eat the fish, the cat eat the bird, and the dog eat the cat.

the bird would eat the fish, the cat eat the bird, and the dog eat the cat. She ate the spider that wiggled and jiggled and tickled inside her. (Man, I'm showing my age now)..haha.

I currently have 3 cats. I never considered myself a cat person until we got our first cat about 7 or 8 years ago. They're very interesting animals. As mentioned above, you have to earn their love and affection. I've grown to love my cats, and I think of them as members of my family. When our oldest cat died last year, I was absolutely heartbroken. I've been wanting a dog for a while now. I absolutely ADORE English bulldogs. I'm just not exactly crazy about paying $2,000 for an English bulldog pup.
"Growing up my dad was like 'You have a great last name, Galifianakis. Galifianakis...begins with a gal...and ends with a kiss...' I'm like that's great dad, can we get it changed to 'Galifianafuck' please?" -- Zach Galifianakis
