I just wanted to let everyone know that I've been doing a lot of dancing and celebrating over the start of spring training. Not that it's exciting, but it means that baseball is almost here!

35 days, woooo! (I've been warming up my woo's and my boo's too)

And with a miracle it's the year for the Giants. My (optimistic) prediction right now, Giants vs. Yankees world series.

I know it's unrealistic, but I HAVE to root for my team! Even if the Giants suck. Honestly, I'm jealous of all you Yankee fans. Only because you have a competitive team each and ever year. But, growing up in the California Bay Area, I'm proud to say I'm a Giants fan from my earliest of memories. Therefore the Yankees are the bad guys! Second only to the Dodgers, grrrrrr.

Yeah I hate the Dodgers too and I'm glad the Yanks are competitive every year. It's because we have a fabulous owner who cares so much about his team and winning that he reinvests his money into it. Although, San Fran came away as the surprise team to land Zito. Would have LOVED to seen him in pinstripes

What Irish, you not happy with Carl Pavano?

Zito is scaring plenty of people by changing his windup and delivery. I think if I had paid all that money, I might be a bit sterner about telling him to stop experimenting with something that could alter his mechanics and potentially ruin his sparkling injury-free record.

And don't be discouraged, Blibble - the Giants may have a chance this year. The Diamondbacks and the Dodgers should be the best teams in that division, but the G-men could duke it out with the Padres as well for a sleeper pick.

No, no, no, it's the year of the Tiger and we will win this time. As long as our pitchers can field ground balls.

I don't know...Kenny Rogers won't be able to doctor the ball this year. I'm waiting for him to explode.

I may be stupid for having hope again, but I'm actually a bit optimistic about the Phillies' chances. They could have a surprisingly good staff with the addition of Freddy Garcia and Adam Eaton to Hamels, Myers, Lieber and Moyer. They just might surprise those Mets.

That would be fine with me. I hate the Mets fans around here. 95% of them are bandwagoners since the Beltran/Pedro/Delgado acquisitions, and they all act like their team is unbeatable. You mention the slightest flaw in any of their players, and you've just committed a sin.

I love to talk baseball, but its impossible to talk to these Met fans right now.

Go Phillies!

Yes! The boys are relaxed, and enjoying spring training. Jason V. is not over-doing it, so he'll be fine down the stretch.

Not funny. When have I ever shown the relentless Yankee fanboyism that is so characteristic of my brethren?

Pfft, lousy Met fans. Say hello to the Braves for us.

Well, he was either born sometime in 1965 of 1969, but it may have been a leap year, and they may not have had a pen at the time, so we really aren't sure.

Can we carbon-date his arm?

lol, speaking of band wagon fans, it was sooooooo bad here.

Also, doubt the Tigers again and see what happens again. We still have IMO the top 1-4 pitching staff in the league and we added a huge DH. We'll win the Central this year.

As for the Marlins...we have an awesome bevy of young talent, and thanks to our bullpen we missed out on the playoffs next year. I expect 80 wins at best since Loria refused to address any bullpen issues. This should be a better team but our crappy owner's suckiness won't let us.

Hooray, only seven months until football season is back!

You're telling me! The first thing I thought was "Great! $126 million for a guy who's arm is going to fall off the first time he throws a curve!" But really I think Zito is a lot smarter than most players and works incredibly hard to be in as perfect shape as possible. Since I don't have a choice, I have to trust that he knows what he is doing and won't screw up his arm.

What happened with Girardi last year? I never heard any details on why he is no longer the coach after doing such a great job.

If I had to make a prediction, I would say that this is the last year for Joe Torre with the Yankees, and Girardi will take over.

The Phillies always seem like they should be really good and then fizzle out for some reason. If they beat out the Mets it would definitely be a surprise though!

He publicly criticized ownership and pretty much got fired for it.

I love Joe Girardi, a paisan, so don't go thinking this is because I'm a Met fan, but you just don't bite the hand that feeds you.

A's fan here..........all I can say is Giant's fans had better pray Zito goes back to his old delivery. Trust me I've seen this guys act enough to know that once the NL learns to lay off the curve this guy will get lit up like a drunk at dollar beer night. We wont miss Mrs. Zito one bit.

It looks as though Mattingly is being groomed for the job, but if the Yankees fail again to win the WS, and Steinbrenner wants a change, I don't think an introvert like Mattingly has the disposition they'd be looking for.

Is Bowa with the team still? He is the anti-Torre, a get-in-your-face guy, who'll challenge anyone to do better. If they think current management is too complacent (and I don't), Larry Bowa brings fire.
