Detectives Indicted Three Cops will face charges for shooting an unarmed sean bell n friends 51 times. 2 with manslaughter 1 with reckless endangerment. to me personally this is complete bullshit. at least the cop who fired over 30 times in too the vehicle should be up for 1st or at the very least 2nd degree murder. these men fired 50 FUCKING shots into an unarmed car for no apparent reason. if it were the other way around the minority in the situation would on trial for their life. sean bell who was getting married the next day was killed and his fiance on her FUCKING wedding day had to be told her future husband was murdered and now has to attend a funeral instead. im glad at least some kind of justice is being served but cmon manslaughter, they did more and intended to do more than slaughter this man n his friends simply bcuz of their skin color. total disgrace

Excessive, yes. However the shots were not fired for NO apparent reason. It all started inside the club with some kind of arguement and talk from Bells friends about getting a gun. But I'm sure that you know the whole story so I won't bore you with anymore details. It's quite obvious that anarchy erupted on that street. Undercover cops, plainclothes cops, some not knowing who was and wasn't a cop. An excuse to kill this guy? Absolutely not. But I'll tell you what. Try putting yourself in the cops shoes who overheard talk about getting a gun and shooting someone and then having one of those guys driving his car towards you like he was going to hit you. Tell me how you would have reacted in that situation. I don't say that his firing 31 shots was justified. It was excessive. Tell me if you were one of the other undercover cops and bullets were flying all over the place what you would have done to save your ass. Excessive amount of shots. Yes, I agree. Charging them with murder. No. Manslaughter and jail time, yes. Racially motivated? Give me a break with that bullshit. Right away if a black man is killed and a white man is involved, it's racially motivated. I guess that the black cop, Mark Cooper, who was indicted, didn't like Bell because he was black.  Don Cardi

I hope the cops get what they deserve.50 shots!Jesus!!What the hell is wrong with these people.They would of had to reload thier clips at least twice each!They definently wanted these guys dead!!!Was it a racist act?No one really knows but i would say probably.

Not racist at all in my eyes, but reckless as all hell. Excessive, etc. I completely agree. I think it'd be good for a kick to watch the officers take the stand. PB, not that I disagree with your sentiments, but how are they going to accomplish those changes, especially the more stringent screening process, when the starting salary is only in the mid 20's?? It's a disgrace that NYC police and firefighters are paid such a disgustingly low salary. Yet in the suburbs, where the work is so much less dangerous, they make way more. Same for NYC teachers.
Until the city addresses that issue, they're not going to get the recruits that you're describing.

Absolutely SB, that's why I acknowledged that it's alot to ask.
A higher rate of pay is essential. There is no truer expression in the world than "you get what you pay for", and it's about time we start paying, or things like this are bound to continue.
I was in the courthouse on 161st street, down the block from the stadium, about 2 months ago to pay a ticket. Anyway, I'm on line at the asc-s window and there's a bulletin up for available courthouse jobs. For some of the lower paying jobs, I swear to you, on the soul of my mother, the basic requirement was the completion of the 8th grade. The 8th f***ing grade! To work in a NYC courthouse!
Now don't anybody go telling me "well, who are you going to get for that job anyway ?" It's a city job, with LIFETIME medical benefits. Even if it's a janitorial position, people are going to be lined up to get it.
I agree with you SB. How can we expect more when we ask so little and offer even less ?

Well it's quite obvious here that you did not read the article or pay attention to the facts. According to a news article only one of the officers re-loaded his weapon during this melee, and he was the one who fired 31 shots. Please, if you are going to be quick to judge and quick to voice an opinion, at least take the time to know the facts first.  Don Cardi LOL

I say the cops deserve the benefit of the doubt (knowing how stressful the job is). I'm not saying the cops were right by firing that many rounds... maybe their training has to be improved. I'm just trying to downplay the racial angle now.
