Is it true that a lot of people who learn Spanish have an easy time learning Italian (or the other way around). I suppose it's true if you can separate the two -- I took Spanish for 3.5 years (Grades 7-10) and was pretty good at it. Then to prepare for a family trip to Italy, I took 2 semesters of Italian my freshman year in college. I think it's definitely easier to learn a second foreign language once you learn a first one, but -- to me at least -- Spanish and Italian were so similar (Spanish is much easier, tho) that I got confused and ended up forgetting both of them. By the time I got to Italy, all I knew how to say was "where's the bathroom?" Anyone who wants to learn a foreign language should do it as young as possible - it's much easier and retention is much better. (As well as "use it or lose it", of course)
I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! lol Whaddaya want me to do? Whack a guy? Off a guy? Whack off a guy? --Peter Griffin My DVDs | Facebook | Godfather Filming Locations
