Hey Paisans!
I bought the GodFather Trilogy (1901-1980) at a flea market a couple weeks ago. I've been after this for years!
Anyways, I've watched the first two VHS tapes so far and the part where young Vito goes back to Italy to kill Don Ciccio is totally missing. The scene where they are raising the Genco Olive Oil sign ends and then goes to Bonasera pleading to the Don at Connies wedding.
Is this right or is my tape defective? I can't believe that this part would be left out on purpose.
If you have this VHS tape set let me know how yours is.
Thanks! Rick

Well, the visit to Italy is quite important to GFII. I don't know why they would have left it out. The Genco sign scene is out of order too. Who knows the tape's origin. The GF Trilogy box set on VHS from 1992 (I think) goes in chronological order from 1901 to 1980. So that part should be between the raising of the sign and Connies wedding. That scene is very important. Too important to leave out I think. But the box set was in very good condition also. Rick

If you have this VHS tape set let me know how yours is. I don't own the Trilogy so I can't say but Geoff's report on this does NOT have those scenes missing (although its possible they are). Check out this link: THE GODFATHER TRILOGY BOXED SET That aside, welcome to the boards!

Hampton, there are about 45 minutes, total, of deleted scenes that Paramount has seen fit to release in one form or another. The three-tape VHS set you bought has about half of the deleted scenes, in chronological order. The full set of 45 minutes of deleted scenes can be viewed in chronological order in the "Saga" version shown regularly on cable TV in the US. All the deleted scenes, as stand-alones, are on an "extra" disc in the DVD boxed set of the Trilogy.

The three-tape VHS set you bought has about half of the deleted scenes, in chronological order. If I'm not mistaken, there are five VHS tapes in that release. The "Epic" (Parts I and II only) has three tapes.

From reading the information there it seems that my set should contain those scenes. Here's a picture of the set I bought. I do not have the book though. I "borrowed" the picture from a popular auction site. Also, Thanks for the welcomes. I plan on being around a lot! Rick

The "Epic" (Parts I and II only) has three tapes. Yes, you're right, SC. But if I'm not mistaken, there are only two deleted scenes in GFIII that were included in all home video but not in the theatrical release: Andrew Hagen meeting with Michael before going to Rome; and Tony showing Michael the limo drawing he made after his first communion party.

I finally had some time to watch more of my Trilogy box set last night! I'm into the 4th of 5 tapes now (Michael back in Nevada after the Cuba trip)
Michael is talking to his mother about his father and if by being "Strong" for his family could he "lose it". Mama's line of "you can never lose your family" or something close to that and Michael says "Times are changing" THEN the flash back to young Vito returning to Sicily and getting revenge for his father, mother and brothers deaths by Don Ciccio.
So, after all that the scene that I thought was deleted from the Box set is there! Just not in the order that I thought it would be! I needed to be a little more patient.
