or how about SHAWSHANK?  I love that filme too. But it disturbes me that it is on the second place, between the two Godfather movies. Third place would be more appropriate. But it is funny that because of that famous list, there is a rivality between two movies that have noting to do with each other.

We voted on another site a while back didn't we?  Anyway, some really good flicks, but my all time favorite IS The Godfather (although I had a hard time deciding between one or two). IMDB ratings are crap. All the newly released movies routinely get more than 7.5. I stopped looking at IMDB ratings before I decide to watch a movie, I think some scam is going on. That's true. But to get into the IMDB ranking, you need to have many votes from regular voters. That's the reason why The Godfather is on top. BTW, welcome aboard Speedy!!! Thanks.

You know, the idea that the "best film" of all time actually exists is completely and totally absurd. But if any of the existing films in IMDB's top ten deserves that top spot, it's Il Buono, il brutto, il cattivo.
By the way, since when the fuck is The Departed number 38? IMDB's system is even more fucked up than I thought.

A dick joke movie and nothing more. My family wanted to see it though. That's high...but have you seen it? It seems to be saving American comedy anyway. EDIT: It's at 112. But IMDb really sucks, as far as the message boards and top 250 go. Virtually every movie that comes out that's halfway decent to good make it on for a few weeks. That piece of shit Star Wars Episode III was on for a while too.

Is Superbad one of the 250 best films of all time? No. Is it simply a "dick joke" movie? Absolutely not. There is plenty of whit and cleverness behind it, and anyone who has experienced public high school--actually, anyone who doesn't share a heart with Satan and has an ounce of humor in their body--can enjoy it. Most American comedies are absolute shit, and throw around dumb fart jokes and follow it up with little intelligence. But immaturity isn't necessarily a bad thing--immaturity can be a great thing if accompanied by clever satire and intelligence... And Superbad had all of those things.
But then again, is The Godfather one of the five best films of all time? Probably not. It may be one of your favorite films of all time, but on a massive grading scale of every film ever made, it's lucky to be in the top 20.
