It is like Darwin's Natural Selection theory. It is not that Dons get squeaky voices, but those who get squeaky voices get selected as Dons tongue Michael became a don through backdoor (becasue of Vito), but he tried hard, you can see the result in GF3 grin

They don't have squeaky voices. Fredo's voice is squeaky, Don's voices (like Vito's) are more harsch. Italian-like.

I don't know about Sicily. But in America, when a Mafioso is elevated to Don, he must vow to wear jockey shorts that are three sizes too small. That's what accounts for the squeaky voices. Michael bucked the rule and wore boxers.
