Discuss anything related to New Year's New Years Eve, resolutions, hopes, dreams for the upcoming year, etc. Randomly, for me, this is one New Year's I won't have "quit smoking" as a resolution. It started out, for me, with my first grandson birth on Jan. 6 (yes, right on Geoff's/Zia's birthday) and you can't top that. My family is healthy and doing well, I got to see my parents and siblings just last month. Can't ask for more. I personally am looking forward to the next election in Nov, hoping for a new beginning and a President that can get us out of the shithole we are left in (or at least begin to). What are your resolutions, hopes for the New Year, and any experiences in the past year that were good/bad that you want to share? Happy New Year everyone. Hope all of you have the best year ever. TIS Edit: See my next post for the Time's Square greeting info. I noticed that after I started the thread.

Well, my one and only resolution is to get a new job ASAP after 1st of the year. This means I hit a new employment agency on January 2nd. Have to get out of retail...although it paid off very well over the holidays, I will soon be once again making next to nothing which is not acceptable.
New Year's Even will be a quiet one at home with my daughter, who decided last year that she would like it to be OUR holiday, where we don't have to go out to anybody's house, just her & me. We'll each pick our own favorite dinner and then toast the new year with non-alcoholic (of course) sparkling cider.
Maybe I'll even open up the Gangster BB to wish all of you a Happy New Year as the clock strikes midnight here on the East Coast!!!
Take care, Apple

Anyone can post a confetti message to be shown in Time's Square on New Year's Eve. FYI, I just entered my message wishing a Happy New Year to my BB friends. I signed it TIS. So, if anyone out there goes to Time's Square (or sees it on tv) let me know. It's a long shot I know, but what the hell. I've included the link. It only takes a minute, but go ahead and post a greeting. Btw, it can't be more than a sentence or so. TIS Time's Square New Year's Greetings

Always give up my New Years Resolutions for Lent
I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! lol Whaddaya want me to do? Whack a guy? Off a guy? Whack off a guy? --Peter Griffin My DVDs | Facebook | Godfather Filming Locations

SC's Godfather quotes would be awesome too. Can you imagine? Well, I know I won't be freezing my ass off in Time's Square, but will check out tv. Anyone in the area going to to Time's Square? TIS

Whisper, sure you should. How cool would that be. The worst scenario, he doesn't see it. No harm done and it's easy and quick to do. P.S. So he'll be freezing his ass of then hu? TIS

The heck with wishing for world peace. Would it be too selfish to ask for peace and quiet in the Babe household??? Shirley you jest, but I hope it comes so. I did Times Square (on New year's Eve) once. I was 16 and some friends and I crowded in with about a half million others. It was loud. It was crowded. It was cold (but I'm glad I did it once).

I will be doing what I did last year. Friends, who live a half mile away, are having a party. Plenty of food and drink, and lots of laughs.
I'm not a fan of a lot of driving this night. A lot of people, who don't make a habit of having a night out on the town, will be drinking more than usual, staying out later than usual, and driving home.
Drive defensively tomorrow night. Assume the other motorists are tipsy.

You know I haven't been "out" for New Year's Eve ever in California. However, in Michigan we'd go out every year, blizzard or not. We would usually go with another couple or two, and what's worse, one of us would always drive. Can you imagine? We'd spend the night getting drunk and actually got into a car. I remember a couple times during blizzardly weather, slip/slidin' What can I say, I was young and very stupid then. Thank God, there was never an accident. TIS

I did Times Square (on New Year's Eve) once, too. Although I cheated a bit...we really weren't IN Times Square. My boyfriend at the time had an apartment on 8th Ave & 40th St. We and a relatively small group of about 150-200 people stood at the cross-street & were able to have just enough of a view to watch the ball drop. Not quite the same as TS I admit...but it accomplished the mission & sure was easier getting out after ringing in the New Year!! Apple

I did Times Square (on New Year's Eve) once, too. Although I cheated a bit...we really weren't IN Times Square. Must've been 1986. I was in between marriages, not dating anyone at the time and decided to work that New Year's Eve (was driving the taxi then). Along came midnight and I was parked in front of The Brasserrie (Park Ave and 53rd) when all of a sudden I heard this LOUD roar (it was the sound of the crowd in Times Square when the ball dropped). Here I was, less than a mile away from about 400,000 people and I felt lonelier than I ever did before. Made some good money that night, though.

I was in Manhattan once for New Years, but at a house party downtown (St. Mark's Place, a block from this bar you should recognize) -- after midnight the subway was so jam-packed that I don't think my feet were touching the floor!
