As I told a good friend, these boards are like life. You are going to come across people you agree with, people you disagree with, people you like and dislike, people who are a**holes, and those that aren't. Why should you let that ruin something you enjoy??
Smitty, I've met you several times, and I was amazed at what a truly gentle and sweet man you are. If someone calls you names, or belittles something you said, that's what the mods are for. Make them aware of it, and continue to post away.

As I told a good friend, these boards are like life. You are going to come across people you agree with, people you disagree with, people you like and dislike, people who are a**holes, and those that aren't. Why should you let that ruin something you enjoy?? I agree, Babe, but I've actually been thinking about taking a temporary hiatus of my own. I recently found out that a member here--one whom I'm rather fond of--pretty much hates me b/c of something I said 2 years ago. I can somewhat empathize with Smitty's situation. As much as I want to take criticisms in stride and keep them in the spirit of good, honest discourse, I don't want my presence on the boards to deter another member from hanging out here. Plus, I have a lot on my plate right now in life, and internet is a distraction. Granted, it's a very educational type distraction, so I'll still read the boards, but if I post once then I have to post 500 times -- there's so much I'd like to discuss but just not enough time. Oh...but I'll probably still hang out in my new Turner Classic Movies You Just Watched Discussion Thread. It's groovy with a capital - OO-.

Just remember those immortal song lyrics
He - (Simón Bolívar) - was shaken by the overwhelming revelation that the headlong race between his misfortunes and his dreams was at that moment reaching the finishing line. The rest was darkness. "Damn it," He sighed. "How will I ever get out of this labyrinth!" So what’s the labyrinth? That’s the mystery isn’t it? Is the labyrinth living or dying? Which is he trying to escape - the world, or, the end of it?

I look at it this way. How many annoying, pestering, bitchy, rude (and any other adjective you wanna use) people are on the BB? Sure we all have people we disagree with, or those we want to tell to take a long walk off a short pier, or to just drop dead. ..But, these people are so few. It's so much easier to simply ignore them (as hard as it may be a times). Can't we agree that 99 percent of those here a great people???? TIS

Smitty, I understand that you may be fustrated with the personal attacks that are made on here from time to time. But stop and think for a moment. Overall most of the members here are good people. Most are fun people and I know that most happen to like you ( which is evident by the quality members that have asked you to reconsider.) So please, don't let a couple of bad apples drive you from this place. You are a very valued member of these boards and your presence here will continue to overshadow those who are obviously not confident enough in themselves and feel the need to attempt to put down and belittle others so that they can make themselves feel important and powerful. Those in life who continually attack and make personal attacks against others usually lack self confidence and when confronted in person turn out to be really week and spineless wimps. If those that make personal remarks against you ever had the opportunity to meet you face to face, they would realize two things; That you are a really warm, gentle and caring person, and also that if you wanted you could crush them with one hand! There is no doubt in my mind that if they ever met you in person, they would really like you. Just stay here Smitty. You're family to most of us, actually to the majority of us. The few that have tried to belittle you have absolutely no idea what a great guy you really are.
Don Cardi Five - ten years from now, they're gonna wish there was American Cosa Nostra. Five - ten years from now, they're gonna miss John Gotti.

If "test me" involves poking your belly-button, assuming it is an outie, then yes. Yes I would. If you are an innie, and you want me to lick it, no. That's just creepy. Weirdo.
