Have you all noticed that Fat Clemenza is not in the Don's room when he comes back home from the hospital.....Tessio is, but not Clemenza. Everyone leaves except for Sonny, Tom, Fredo, and Tessio... What is that all about?? Anyone got any theories or facts on that scene???? I wonder if it has to do with the Don being upset with Clemenza about Paulie, or if he was helping mama Corleone cook up some of his famous sauce......cause she did have to cook for about 50 guys or so.....LOL. grin

I never really thought about or aknowledged his absence from that scene. It's been about a year since I last read the novel--was he in that scene under Puzo's writing?

I'll check out the book later, but for now I'll assume he was out involved in some type of war related business. He always seemed to be the most war-orientated of the two caporegimes... And at least seemed to enjoy war or just being a muscle more than any of the other Corleone heads.

It would appear that Richard Castellano had the day off when that scene was filmed.

Either that or he simply couldn't fit throught the door.

No other reason in terms of the characters and their relationship with Don Vito.

Maybe Clemenza was in the kitchen making his famous spaghetti sauce.

Whaddya talkin' about??? Clemenza is plainly visible in that scene. Watch it again, he's in almost every background scene and he's the first to follow Tom Hagen out of the room when everyone leaves.

SC......I will have to check on that scene again.....I don't think he is there though.....I mean, it is not like you can miss the man.....lol.
Apple....don't you have any good theories or thoughts on any threads now a days? It seems all you do is insult people and their questions, and then give some lame answer. I really expected more.

I've got plenty of good theories/thoughts BarrytheBull, thanks for asking!

That is...when a thread and it's topic are good ones. Such as late last week when I recall two really interesting threads going on.

But sorry, when a question comes up like 'Why wasn't Clemenza there when Vito returned from the hospital...' comes up, and the only answer might just be that it may have had nothing to do with the story, maybe the actor wasn't there that day, then that's the answer I'm going to give, because THAT's my THEORY.

And now, according to SC it turns out that Clemenza WAS included in that scene (though personally I never noticed whether he was or not, but now I'll look for him)...so I think instead ot worrying about being insulted you better go back and take a closer look at the movie before you post questions that might just leave you vulnerable to getting your feelings hurt [Linked Image]
[Linked Image]

But here, take a few of [Linked Image] dry your eyes and maybe present YOUR OWN theories as to why Clemenza wasn't there.

Oh, but it seems he WAS there !!!!

Any theories/thoughts????

SC is right. Clemenza is there!!

By the way, talking about things there and not there. After watching the GF for about the 100th time last night, I noticed that the painting above the mantal in the Don's office changes. In the beginning it's a landscape. At the end it's a portrait. I think I also noticed that several items on the mantal seemed to have changed also.

Apple....my thought is that I am sorry I had to verbally spank you infront of everyone, but you have been jumping down a lot of people throats with their questions.....who are you to judge what is a good question or not??? You're answer that "maybe the actor was not there that day" is a waste of time to read.......it offers no insight on a fans take or theory on a movie that we are all writing about....
Thanks for the kleenex though.....very nice touch.

J Geoff.....thanks for the pic.....man for a big dude, he sure is hard to see......I am going to be hitting the slow motion button on that scene tonight...LOL.
I knew he was downstairs at the begining of that scene......Frankie is punching him in the gut while Sonny is holding him.....Good job posting that photo.

If you think of your response as a 'verbal spanking', or if you think that I considered it one ...then you need to spend a little more time on the Board! Good luck finding your way!

That might just be all the insight that is needed...though I have yet to see any of YOUR insight as to why he wasn't there...oh, but wait...he WAS there!!!

Oh, but who are YOU to judge what is a waste of time to read???

Keep up the pace, BarryBull - you'll soon join others who have followed the same path.

BarryBull, we're not 'fighting'.

You're asking for input/thoughts/theories on specific subjects you post about. I give my 'input', and you complain that it's a waste of time to read an that hopefully 'others' will have more to add, and some have. So instead of harping on what you don't like about my posts, why don't you help dignify your own threads by contributing to the discussions that you yourself initiated.

You silly little boy.

I just love to hear a woman talk about spanking.

Seriously though, did anyone else notice the change in the picture over the mantal in the Don's office.

Barry, look at the initial scenes when he is talking to people like Bonasera. Then look at the scene near the end when Mike is telling all of them about the move to Vegas and he removes Tom as Consigliere.

Not to get completely off topic, but I remember my parents having one of those ashtrays on a stand when I was a kid! That thing was huge and weighed a ton. As big as it was, though, I remember that it used to overflow when they had friends over.

Sorry, return to your original positions...

Well one thing I think we can all agree on is that the Corleones never did any great favors that were returned by good interior decorators.
