Be honest: first time, how many do you know? And do you know them by their specific terms?

I've been trying to memorise them because it comes in handy for my pub quizzes. I knew about 22 on my first go; up to 27 now.

I knew them all in order from 1913-present, anyway.

Got only 37 (out of the 43).

Well, I'm an American history guy, so I got 'em all. I was going great guns until I looked at the chart and saw that I left out some of what my son used to call "the lame Presidents"--Chester Arthur, Martin Van Buren, etc. Took me a while to remember them.

They're the ones I missed....

I got 21 of them in 2 minutes. Including Chester A. Arthur (kudos to The Simpsons for him, though)

That's pretty damned good for a non-American.

I don't think I could name three British prime ministers of more than 5 or 6 kings/queens.

In addition to remembering our Presidents, ranking them is something of a National Pastime. The rankings keep changing with the passage of time. Here's an interesting article:

Monarchs are way easier than PMs, for me. You've only got about three or four names to deal with, and then it's just a case of adding numbers after them.

Turnbull (and others): do you know the US Vice Presidents?

I managed 12, and most of them I knew because they became president, like Johnson, Ford, Truman and Bush, Sr.

Got all but one with four minutes left and with 2:27 left I remembered the last one Rutherford B. Hayes...after Grant.

I got 18 but I was never able to finish the test, after 18 my mind went blank.

I got 37

Got 13 in one minute.

I got all 43. The last two that made my list were Arthur and Polk. Polk came easily enough when I saw the block was for one term.

To make Arthur come to mind quickly was realizing Garfield was assassinated early in his term and Arthur took over.

Who was the president that froze to death? Ok, not literally, but he wore no hat or coat or something to his inauguration, caught a cold, developed pneumonia, and died after a very short term in office.

I got 22 of them right. Those that I didn't were those that I had not heard their name before. Perhaps won't remember them next time either.

It was William Henry Harrison (Tippecanoe and Tyler Too) I believe he was elected in 1840, starting the zero year jinx that Reagan broke. He was elderly when elected and he gave a lengthy inaugural address, caught pneumonia and died something like 30 days into his term. His grandson Benjamin Harrison later became president. So we have four families that have produced two presidents. The Adams, the Harrisons, the Roosevelts and the Bushes.

I believe that Harrison was the oldest president to win an election until Reagan.

I only know the one's that sung/sang Lump and Peaches.

10 including a fluke one because of the same last name. I knew 4 more obvious ones, but only after I saw the answers.

29! better than I thought I would do

I got 24 of the vice presidents though I could kick myself for forgetting Van Buren, Fillmore, Burr andCalhoun. I was able to get them all going backwards from Cheney to Nixon, serving under Eisenhower. I couldn't remember Truman's veep.

How could I forget Burr??? D'oh!!!!
