Which one was your favorite Button/soldier to the Corleone family..

I know Luca died quick, and Cicci was right hand man for Frankie but still from the glimpses you saw from them.

I guess Luca never talked, or he would have been already dead, killed by Tessio(In his loyal times of course)or Clemenza.

Despite his s-s-s-stuttering problems, Luca was much more important to the family, while Cicci was just a Button. Therefore, Luca is best... tongue

Unfair question..... Brasi was much more than a button/soldier. He was a special retainer. He took instructions directly from Vito (not from Sonny, not from Tom Hagen, etc.). Willie Cicci took instructions from a lot of buffers. tongue

Luca died for his Don. Cicci squealed on his Don. Enough said.

In GF movies we don`t get to know the soldiers and the bottom men very well. We see the Corleone family from the top most of the time.

In other movies like Godfellas it`s just the opposite.
The movie is all about the bottom men and the outsiders.
Few of the main characters in Godfellas was actually made men or members of any family, just outsiders working for the commision.

But some soldiers are portraied.
Except for Cicci and Luca, Rocco also starts as a soldier.
But then again, that also isn't completely true.

Luca was more a personal soldier to the Don, Rocco started as a capodecine, and became a capo. Cicci was probably also a capodecine in Clemenza's regime.

So what is the exactly the difference between a capodecine and a caporegime?

I know that the typical structur of the
american Cosa Nostra families today is from top to bottom:
Boss
UnderBoss along with a Consigliere
Then the Capos also refered to as "Skippers"
Each Capo run a crew of several Soldiers.
A Soldeier is sometimes referd to as a Bottom man.
Soldiers are usually allowed to have their own crew of
Outsiders or Connected guys who are not actuall members of the family.

A Capo is head of a large group of soldiers. Since he can't control that, and to have enough buffers, he also has capodecini. One capodecine is the leader of a crew consisting of ten soldiers.
I think men like Paulie, Rocco, Pentangeli, and Cicci were capodecine in The GF.

My two cents.

Luca Brasi was an animal a pure mad man there is no one that could measure up to Luca Brasi..he was totally insane, Cicci wouldn't stand a chance in a man hunt between the two men.....Luca might not be that bright but what he's lost in brains he makes up for with pure brawn

That isn't true.
A Caporegime and a Capodecina is the same. A Capodecina is to a mafiafamily of Sicily what a caporegime is to a mafiafamily in America. It's the same, only another name.

There is no buffer between a caporegime/capodecina and it's soldiers.

My vote goes to Luca Brasi. He was loyal to Vito till he died (and after that)..
