Discuss your Holiday loot from this year or past years even. What was the best thing you got in 2008?
Worst?
Best thing you gave?
Ever do White Elephant gifts?
Best gift you've ever gotten?White ElephantWe did some white elephant gifts in our church group for couples my wife and I attend occasionally. I had a huge box with 2 boxes inside of them. The big box had an ugly tie, the second box had pork flavored ramen noodles, and the 3rd box had a small thing of body wash. Looking back, I could have done a lot better. The person opening it didn't have much of a sense of humor either... I got a pair of women's shoes, powder blue. My wife ended up with a picnic basket that she has already re-gifted. Best gift in 2008My mom gave me two packs of football cards she got for 99 cents each. I didn't mind, she doesn't have a lot of money and I like football cards. I open the pack to find: Yep, that's right. An autographed card of the NFL's Rookie of the Year. That was my birthday. Christmas I got some more white t-shirts (I wear a white t-shirt every day) and some socks (needed some) and The Dark Knight on DVD. I still have money on my Barnes and Nobles gift card, which surprises me. I got a flashlight that never needs batteries, and bright red duct tape, electrical tape, and masking tape. The tape was all from my father in law, all the guys get a bag of stuff, and the girls get a bag of stuff. "We're family and we're stuck with each other". Worst?I'm not sure, I didn't get anything completely useless this year. If I had to say something I'd say the pads of paper with my name at the top and horses at the bottom. But it'll get used so it's not that bad. Best gift I gaveI am horrible at shopping for my wife. She will drop obvious hints and sometimes I still manage to miss them. I managed to get her something she wasn't expecting and she still really liked it. The Sex and the City movie. We ended up having a movie day where we sat in our recliners, held hands, and watched our movies together. Best Gift EverI remember waking up at 5am when I was around 7 or 8. I went to the christmas tree and shouted "I GOT A BATMAN BIKE!" which woke my parents up. I'd say my favorite though would be the xbox and NFL2K5 game my wife got me about 3 years ago. I told her that NFL2K5 was probably the best $20 she's ever spent because I've spent hours playing that game. I still play it and prefer it over Madden each year.
Long as I remember The rain been coming down. Clouds of Mystery pouring Confusion on the ground. Good men through the ages, Trying to find the sun; And I wonder, Still I wonder, Who'll stop the rain.

I gave my folks an 8" digital frame crammed w/ 2GB of photos and videos of (mostly) their grandkids taken since 2005, which they love. I got the "shorties" (I've been using that term since watching The Wire ) toys they're actually still playing with, so I consider that a success! I got the two older ones gift certificates to Modell's placed in Rutgers beanies. Gave my bro/SIL two photo frames for the twins' "My First Year", and my other brother a Rutgers scarf. I got 2 pairs of Skechers ( Excavate and Springfield) and some shirts, plus this geek t-shirt (all of which I picked out lol), a Rutgers desk clock/frame and ear muffs, comedian Jim Norton's I Hate Your Guts from a friend, and some spending money to buy something I want (which will likely go to AmEx )...
I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! lol Whaddaya want me to do? Whack a guy? Off a guy? Whack off a guy? --Peter Griffin My DVDs | Facebook | Godfather Filming Locations

My gifts from my wife were 100% perfect. ...Because I picked them out. I've learned those are the best gifts when it comes to your significant other. Even though she tells me what she wants, whatever I get for her is not quite what she wanted. So I've been asking her to pick it out specifically and I buy it. My tastes aren't so difficult.

I actually got a belated gift tonight. Some friends got me a framed, autographed plaque of Cole Hamels pitching in the World Series, complete with his postseason statistics. Awesome Klyd. Pride of place in the house i bet?
