I'm going to my in-laws tomorrow for my in-laws 50th anniversary/renewing vows celebration on the 4th. My 2 older yougins are coming up from VA WooHoo!!

I'll be having my family over July 4th. I have a pool in my complex and the weather is going to be into the 90's so it'll be perfect. There is a park by me that will have fireworks, so that should top off the evening.

So I tried to burn a CD on my laptop yesterday. The lens has been erratic for more than a year. I was very tired. In a foul mood. The disc didn't burn. I spat on the lens and punched the laptop.

The dreaded blue screen. It refuses to go beyond startup now; I can't start it in safe mode, I can't do anything. I can't even boot from the CD because it says there's no recovery file. Just keeps shutting itself off and restarting.

I've got my music and photos on my external hard drive, but everything else, I fear, may be lost. Writing, documents, my beloved if ill-kept film database Excel file.

In the brief period I had to note what messages were popping up (none now do), it said something about a DLL file being missing, and thus no log-in screen could show.

Somebody might be able to recover data from your hard-disk, although they charge quite high usually. But they just recover the data, not make your laptop usable. Give them a try.

Yesterday, like a million other people, I played 1776 in the New York State Win 4. Day and night. Straight and box.

Tonight's Win 4 was 7176.

Guess what? I only played it for yesterday.

Anyone got the first idea of what having a G8 summit in a city like Rome means??????? I had to walk for almost 6 kms to come back home after work and was enough lucky to be not caught in the anti-G8 riots and it's going to be like that for the next two or three days. Why don't they just have these darn summits on video conference and leave us alone????

I putting this in the random thread with the hope somebody has a quick fix. All day today, for some reason, my computer screen is all large print...I mean very large and so are the icons on my desk top. I never intentionally changed anything. I went to internet and text size and it's normal, but everything is large. My eyes aren't what they use to be but this is too large. I know, there's always something.

well i wont make a comment like some other people here, but it sounds like something is messed up...now idk how to fix it though since this happend to me before, and i never had it fix.

People here making smartass comments? No, never!!

I believe this happened a while back but cleared up on its own. I shut down and re-started but it's still large. I am hoping it'll clear itself since I hate messing with things I don't know about.

what browser do you use TIS?

IE, or as Geoff would call it POS. Could it be my screen resolution? I have Yahoo mail and everytime I check my mail, I get a message that it won't fit (or something of the sort) and I have to view by Yahoo classic. They have instruction on how to alter display settings,pixels???? I'm afraid to change anything though. I have no idea why suddenly this happened. I could go to system restore no???
