I never understood why people would wanna artificially (let alone really) tan, to tell you the truth... I just don't get it. Why?? I don't get the point of it...
"Real" tans -- especially sunburning yourself -- are basically cooking your flesh. For what reason??
Then fake tans, to "pretend" that you've cooked yourself?? I certainly don't get.
Centuries ago a tan was the sign of a lowly field worker. The aristocrats were sheltered from the cancer-causing sun. But these days, everyone seems to welcome it with open arms...?
I like a little color, don't get me wrong. But to purposely start cooking myself, not so much... no good is gonna come from that!

That's true, Geoffy. But in post World War II America, the winter tan became a status symbol for many people. That's true, too. I've been known to soak up a little Vitamin D in the Winter when down south or out west...

Some redheads have more sensitivity to pain, may need more anesthetic Gene variant may play a role and influence pain sensitivity Fri July 31, 2009Next Article in Health By Madison Park
(CNN) -- Despite two injections of anesthetic, Amy Anderson felt like her dentist was jamming rods into her tooth during a root canal. She writhed in pain as her infected tooth was hollowed with a drill, its nerve amputated, and then sealed.
Studies say redheads avoid dental care after having painful experiences and may require more anesthetics. "I knew this time something was wrong. I could feel my lips," said the Syracuse, New York, resident, who told her dentist the drugs weren't working. Her doctor kept assuring her she had given her a proper dose and said: "I'm almost done."
"I was hurting so bad, I was hitting myself in the stomach," said Anderson, a redhead. "I almost wanted to hit her."
Studies have indicated that redheads may be more sensitive to pain and may need more anesthetics to numb them.
New research published in this month's Journal of American Dental Association found that painful experiences at the dentist might cause more anxiety for men and women with red hair, who were twice as likely to avoid dental care than people with dark hair.
"Redheads are sensitive to pain," said Dr. Daniel Sessler, an Outcomes Research Department chair at The Cleveland Clinic, in Cleveland, Ohio, who is one of the authors.
"They require more generalized anesthesia, localized anesthesia. The conventional doses fail. They have bad experiences at the dentist and because of the bad experiences, they could avoid dental care."
"Generosity. That was my first mistake." "Experience must be our only guide; reason may mislead us." "Instagram is Twitter for people who can't read."

Palin Camp Slams Divorce Rumors: They "Remain Married" 08- 1-09 07:42 PM
Sarah Palin's spokeswoman is shooting down reports that the former Alaska governor and her husband, Todd, are seeking divorce.
The story, which appeared on the "Alaska Report" Website and several other blogs, cited a National Enquirer story about the "stress" of the couple's marriage leading to her resignation, and claimed that Palin bought land in Montana recently and that "multiple sources in Wasila and Anchorage" had confirmed the news.
After the story made the rounds on Saturday, spokeswoman Meg Stapleton posted a statement on Palin's Facebook page:
Yet again, some so-called journalists have decided to make up a story. There is no truth to the recent "story" (and story is the correct term for this type of fiction) that the Palins are divorcing. The Palins remain married, committed to each other and their family, and have not purchased land in Montana (last week it was reported to be Long Island). "Less than one week ago, Governor Palin asked the media to 'quit making things up,'" Stapleton added. "We appreciate that the more professional journalists decided to question this story before repeating it."
An attorney for Palin denied the report to CBS News:
Sarah Palin's attorney, Thomas Van Flein, told CBS News that the report of a divorce is "categorically false."
Palin may issue her own statement later in the day, though the frequent Twitter user has yet to tweet on the topic.

and claimed that Palin bought land in Montana recently and that "multiple sources in Wasila and Anchorage" had confirmed the news. She won't be able to see Alaska anymore. I guess she's gonna have to concentrate on domestic affairs now.
