Unfortunately, I'm not experienced im either field.
I took a sports law course in law school, which was taught by a professor, who was a sports agent, who had a national reputation. Among his clients that I remember were John Salley, Walter Berry, Warren Moon and others.
During the semester he did extensive work getting a college player declared eligible for the NFL Supplemental Draft. His client was Cris Carter, and he ran a contest in the class to see if anybody could guess the team and the round, in which he was selected.
The class was an eye opener. Much of the work of front offices involves litigating with insurance companies over whether injuries are serious enough to have the carrier pay the athlete's salary. He also identified which teams in the various sports were deceitful back stabbers with respect to dealing with other teams and players/employees and salary caps.
