At around 11 pm last night, my girlfriend got a call from her sister telling her that their mom is going to have surgery tomorrow (today) to remove a tumor from one of her ovaries. Now never mind the fact that surgery is bad enough, but my girlfriend had no clue that her mother even HAD a tumor to begin with. Imagine finding out that your mom might have cancer, AND is having surgery the next day, all at once.
Needless to say, she is devastated, and while I'm being as strong and supportive as possible, there's only so much I can do, and God knows I'm doing my best to be there for her. She's never suffered a serious loss in her life, and the thought of maybe losing her mother is terrifying to her, as it would be to anybody.
I ask that you please keep her mother and her family in your thoughts and prayers. And maybe throw one in there for me, too, because I'm kind of lost at the moment.
Thanks guys, and take care.
David

Best wishes to all concerned, David!
I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! lol Whaddaya want me to do? Whack a guy? Off a guy? Whack off a guy? --Peter Griffin My DVDs | Facebook | Godfather Filming Locations

XDCX I pray that the surgery is a success and that your girlfriend's mother pulls through ok. I can imagine how your gf must feel. My best to you, her and her family. TIS

UPDATE:Turns out the mass was located in her mother's uterus, and not one of the ovaries. I was working with very little information when I made the original post, so please forgive the error. Thank God I wasn't the surgeon, right? They ended up doing a full hysterectomy, removing her uterus, fallopian tubes, and part of her cervix. There was a lot of scar tissue left over from when she had her tubes tied, and it had been causing her pain for the past few years now, so they cleaned that up also. Turns out that on top of being diabetic, she's extremely anemic. She's been gradually losing blood over the years, and her body hasn't been able to replace it. A normal human being has 12 pints of blood. She's only got 7 1/2. The doc's don't wanna do a blood transfusion yet, because her body may not react well seeing as she's been living off less blood for so long now. But they may have to do a transfusion down the road. And the best news is that it wasn't a malignant tumor. It turned out to be a benign cyst. So thanks for your thoughts and prayers everybody. It means a lot, and I do believe they help. Thanks, and God bless. David

Needless to say, she is devastated, and while I'm being as strong and supportive as possible, there's only so much I can do, and God knows I'm doing my best to be there for her. I know that feeling of trying your hardest to be supportive but only being able to do so much. My girlfriend's sister died on friday and it's hard to be the strong one in the house. No matter what I say seems to make her more upset, so I realized just to keep quiet and let her be upset and deal with it the way she needs to, and I'm just making sure I'm there for whatever she needs.
