Oh no!!! That's too bad. He play such a great bad guy! He'll always be an "Easy Rider" though as far as I'm concerned.

I hope he beats it!!! smile

Early stage prostate cancer can be treated with a high probability of quick recovery and survival. From the tone of the article, his doesn't sound like early stage cancer. frown

RR,

Call me daffy but Speed is one of my favorite movies, largely in part because of Hopper's performance. He's a wonderful bad guy. smile I don't own many movies but that one I'd like to own.

If you wanna see Hopper as the bad guy, check out Blue Velvet, which is coincidentally playing at my local arthouse Monday night.

I don't see that many movies, but his performance in this one made my jaw drop. I think Dennis hopper is as versatile an actor out there and he can hit levels of "weird" and "freaky" that others can't imagine.

Reports are claiming that Dennis Hopper is losing his fight against cancer.

In October it was announced that the actor was battling with prostate cancer and was admitted to the hospital with severe flu type symptoms.

Immediately Hopper underwent treatment for his illness at the University of Southern California, but it is said that the disease has spread to his bones. His health has been worsening each day. Presently Hopper is in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles and has been there since Christmas.

According to Britain’s News, doctors are admitting that the battle for the 73 year old may be over soon with the disease spreading like it is. The publication states the doctors have discussed with Hopper that the illness is incurable and that these may be his final days.

Oli,

I read that the other day, but it was an Enquirer story and I wasn't sure how credible it was. Too bad. It seems to have spread so quickly (at least from the time we found out about it.) frown

My brother in law was diagnosed with it and he died a year later.

Well this is interesting (keep in mind this is the National Enquirer though):

Apparently Hopper as filed for a divorce on his death bed. eek

If true, I would think it's an obvious attempt to NOT include his wife in the will. Yet, a family friend is quoted as saying he's " mentally incapacitated" from the drugs. Sounds like an easy out for the wife to say he didn't know what he was doing.

California is community property and always a 50/50 split. I'm not sure how this would help Hopper since they were married for a long time. I "think" she'd be entitled to half of everything he earned from the time of the marriage.

Btw, remember his 8 day marriage to Michelle Phillips? lol I think the shortest in U.S. history.

Just saw him on a rerun of the show "Las Vegas". He was playing the head of the New Orleans Montecito and he and James Caan played off one another very well. We also saw "Speed" on cable a few weeks ago. You just have to love him in that role.

Well, I know his cancer is terminal, but evidently he is not in the hospital. He was appeared to receive his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame today. He looks frail and sickly though. frown

RIP Dennis. cry

His death at least provides an opportunity for men to be reminded that prostate cancer, which is the second- or third-most frequent cancer in males, can be diagnosed easily via a physical exam and a blood test for PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen). If diagnosed early, the prognosis for full recovery is excellent. Unfortunately, early stage prostate cancer gives off no physical symptoms, so too many men who neglect the diagnostics discover it only when it has gone into the bones. Then it's very painful--and terminal.

I didn't realise until re-watching bits a few weeks ago that he was in a non-speaking role in Rebel Without a Cause. A sort of stepping stone to my favourite role of his: Frank Booth in Blue Velvet.

Blue Velvet had as great an impact here as did Clockwork Orange years earlier. Hopper's Frank was as iconic as was McDowell's Alex. Hopper was wonderful in those unhinged-character parts. He was just terrific as the acid-addled photojournalist in Apocalypse Now.

I'll have to send you a love letter! Straight from my heart, f*****!!!!

lol

"When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies but the pack survives."
Winter is Coming

Now this is the Law of the Jungle—as old and as true as the sky; And the wolf that shall keep it may prosper, but the wolf that shall break it must die.
As the creeper that girdles the tree-trunk, the Law runneth forward and back; For the strength of the Pack is the Wolf, and the strength of the Wolf is the Pack.
