I stumbled across a well worn and faded copy of this book in the Fiction section of a second hand book store - i snatched it up, quickly made sure all the pages were intact, and bought it for $3. Even if it was a shitty book, i still would have bought it; as it turns out, i am absolutely loving this book, and find it invaluable in regards to information on the West Coast Mob Families and operations.
I knew squat about Jimmy the Weasel before i started reading the book, apart from the quick rundown of his life and exploits most sites list and the fact that he was one the highest ranking mobsters to flip. Now i know the book is a little self-serving, but i am constantly stunned by some of the revelations and anecdotes; in particular, i am fascinated with his dealings with Sir Peter Abeles, an Australian Trucking magnate who crossed paths with Jimmy the Weasel during an expansion into the US.
Also, i feel like ive learned more about such (in)famous figures as Johnny Roselli, Sam Giancana,Tony Accardo, Marshall Caifano, Jack Dragna, Frank Bompensiero and even too many more to list. Things that you dont really get in most Mob bio's and profiles on the web.
Loving this book.
(cough.)
