Lady Gaga is a bit odd, if I may say so. I don't understand these artists who feel compelled to make their award acceptance a political statement. Take your award, thank your mother, and get off the stage. If you want to work on or for a political cause, then go volunteer for the Organization to Save Such-and-Such. Enough already with the red ribbons and the pink ribbons and the meat dresses.

Now, there's a sentence I never thought I'd be writing.

I didn't see the show but this cracks me up. I absolutely love a good steak but never once thought of wearing it (right down to the shoes no less).

Sort of gives a whole new definition to the term "meat head" doesn't it?

And her persona is really nothing new, either, although she probably thinks she's breaking new ground.

The only difference between her "shocking" outfits and those of, say, Grace Jones or David Bowie or Cher (all 30 plus years ago), is that those artists were more than marginally talented, Miss Gaga is not. But she's a runaway success, no doubt about that, rich beyond anyone's wildest dreams before her 25th birthday.

Chalk it up to the Ritalin addled minds of the Twitter generation .

After the awards, she was taken to the nearset homeless shelter, where she feed 75 people.

I'll bet she'd be a big hit at the dog kennel!!!

I don't understand how some of these artists sell out concerts. They must lip-synch, because on the rare occasions when you hear them live, they're awful. They can't hold a note to save their lives. Miley Cyrus is a prime example. I heard her do "The Climb" live and my dog is STILL howling from the sharp notes she hit. Taylor Swift is another one. She did a live duet with Stevie Nicks at the Grammy Awards and she was frightful. Stevie Nicks' voice has been on the decline for years now, and she still sang rings around Taylor.

SB, I think a lot of it is autotune. The show is just as important or more so than the actual music or singing. Also people don't care as much as they used to about lip-synching or pre-recorded tracks in live performances.

And these days record companies don't have the time or money to nurture artists until they find their voice. If they can earn money with someone right now that's what they want, never mind how good they may or may not be. To be fair I think that's always been the case; it's just more obvious these days.

What's autotune?

A recording device that corrects the pitch and the other voice flaws of untalented singers.

MSNBC is reporting the the Eiffel Tower is being evacuated due to a bomb threat. Police are searching now.

NJ Transit Worker Fired After Burning Koran Updated: Wednesday, 15 Sep 2010, 6:29 PM EDT

NewsCore - The man captured on camera ripping pages out of a Koran and burning them near Ground Zero in lower Manhattan Saturday -- the ninth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks -- was fired from his job at NJ Transit, the New Jersey transportation provider told NewsCore Tuesday.

NJ Transit said that Derek Fenton's "public actions" violated its code of ethics and that he “violated his trust as a state employee.”

It was not clear that Fenton was terminated because of his actions on Saturday. The NJ Transit statement indicated that he was fired on Monday.

In response to questions from NewsCore Tuesday, NJ Transit released a statement saying: “Derek Fenton was terminated on September 13, 2010 from his employment at NJ TRANSIT. An at-will employee, Mr. Fenton’s public actions violated New Jersey Transit’s code of ethics."

It continued: "NJ TRANSIT concluded that Mr. Fenton violated his trust as a state employee and therefore was dismissed.”

My oldest daughter will graduate the University of Miami in December. My younger daughter just started her freshman year at Penn State a few weeks ago. And my son just started his freshman year at Stepinac (high school). My life is insane (read: expensive), too, yet I make time for my buddies on the BB .

A gunman opened fire inside one of the buildings at Baltimore's Johns Hopkins Hospital, where at least one doctor was reported shot.

Baltimore police say they're setting up a tactical operation to deal with a gunman who is holed up on the eighth floor of Johns Hopkins hospital after shooting a doctor.
(ABC News)The gunman, who has not been identified, is not in custody but has been "isolated" in a particular area of the hospital, according to Baltimore Police.

"We are in the process of getting the suspects, it's possible he is barricaded in a room," said Anthony Guglielmi, chief of public affairs for the Baltimore Police Department.

Guglielmi said that the doctor is in surgery but his injuries are not critical.

"The doctor is going to be OK – he's in the best place in the world," he said.

In the initial confusion, some reports said the shooter had been subdued, while others said police were trying to get a negotiator close enough to talk with him.
