That dot on the map is directly across from Toms River! Toms River is South Jersey, though. I don't consider it "South Jersey" -- that's where the piney's like MaryCas live! The Parkway spans the entire state, N-S, for 172 miles, and TR is practically dead-center of that. And technically only the most southern portions of Ocean County may be considered " South Jersey"... so TR is in " Central Jersey" Since my county is "in between", and basically equidistant from both NYC and Philly, it's a grey area. If you're a Philly sports fan, you're in South Jersey
I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! lol Whaddaya want me to do? Whack a guy? Off a guy? Whack off a guy? --Peter Griffin My DVDs | Facebook | Godfather Filming Locations

Yeah, I didn't realize this can be a mix between a hurricane AND a winter storm! Some say it could be worse than "The Perfect Storm" (movie) Guess I won't have to buy much candy for Halloween this year. Oy vey

I knew we were in trouble when I heard the word "FrankenStorm" used on local newscasts last night.

Becky is getting induced Tuesday morning. Don't you usually have to wait for nine months after that?

Becky is getting induced Tuesday morning. Quite an interesting forecast - 90% chance of windswept rain, 100% chance of grandchild! Something one doesn't usually see on the satellite weather maps... Signor V.

To put the icing on the Sandy cake -- which is supposed to hit here Monday night -- it's also gonna be a full moon!

...it's also gonna be a full moon! I hope lycanthropes can swim... All today - or technically, yesterday - the weather forecasters were using phrases like "once in a lifetime storm" and really piling it on. The governors of a bunch of states in this area have already declared their states disaster areas before the storm gets anywhere near - all the governors, that is, except New Jersey's Governor Christie. What does he think is gonna happen? One giant whoosh from his mighty lungs and the storm will be pushed, whimpering, out to sea? I've got enough food here to last at least a week, so I'm not worried about that; just everything else! Signor V.

To be honest, it seems the bigger the growl, the smaller the bite. Last year's "horror" was supposed to pass right over my house -- I never lost power (on my street, the rest of the neighborhood did!). I know North Jersey got bad flooding, etc, but I was fine. At "ground zero". Now I might be "ground zero" again -- and while I can hope for the best, and a repeat of last year's eh (here), I have to prepare for the worst. Since I just got my iPhone 5 the other day (and Apple changed their plugs), I had to go out today to buy a new car charger ($30) which doesn't even include the new cable ($20) to plug into it! I also picked up a UPS (Battery Backup, which is normally used for computers during a power outage; I'm hoping it'll work to recharge my phone in the event of an extended power outage). Another $65. Tomorrow I'll be tackling the masses for supplies that won't be on the shelves any more. If the power goes out, that means canned crap. Good think I love eating mini ravioli right out of the can lol Batteries, candles, ice (and liquor to pour onto it), and I should be okay. Don't think I'll need to buy too much Halloween candy this year, which is good, since I still have plenty left over from last year. (NO, I will not hand that out!) ...and the "2nd largest Halloween Parade in the world" (Guinness Book) here is scheduled for Wednesday, with Thursday being the rain date. Hmmm.
