"Michael Francis, will you be baptized?" Wasn't that meant for the baby who's name was Michael Francis "Rizzi" ? Yes, it was for the baby. Rizzi was a two bit hustler. He could have never named that baby "Francis." I never realized until this day that it was Coppola all along.

"Michael Francis, will you be baptized?" Wasn't that meant for the baby who's name was Michael Francis "Rizzi" ? Yes, but the child took his godfather's middle name. It was Michael, as the godfather, who answered the priest. Michael Francis Corleone.

Which, by the way, is a little indication of Michael's sense of self-importance. When monograms were big in their day, for married couples shared items, such as sheets, towels, glasses, etc., the big letter in the middle was their last name, and then BOTH their first initials were used on either side. For sheets, the Corleone's monogram should have been:

Yes, my parents had led crystal ashtrays with that type of monogram. But to be fair, it could've been a wedding gift from a Corleone guest who specifically requested only Michael's monogram. With all he had to think about, do and oversee. even at the time of his marriage to Kay and before his father's death...it seems unlikely that Michael Corleone would really care about whose initials are embroidered into the master bedroom sheets.

In that sort of ceremony, The Godfather of the child being baptized speaks for the child, which is obviously too young to speak, therefore "The Godfather" of the child is responsible to make sure the batized child grows up in the way of The Catolic Church. Hence, Michael answering questions intened for the child....
