mob elements but not a true mob movie. good movie none the less. killer list of actors in it. be cool was also a great sequel.

yes the sequel was "be cool" had travolta in it, dwayne "the rock" johnson was gay in it, vince vaughn played a wigger talking pimp, great flick!

Watched it last night, as a matter of fact. Thought it was hilarious. Loved Dennis Farina as Ray "Bones".
Funny as hell. lol
It was definitely a satire on Hollywood, not a mob pic. It was funny to see Gene Hackman play a total idiot tho.
BTW, don't you think Travolta would play a great straight-up mobster in a serious mafia movie? I wonder why he's never done it before?

I don't count it as a mob movie, it has 2 mobsters in the whole thing.

Elmore Leonard is a great writer but it never seems to quite translate onto the screen as well. Get Shorty is one of those movies I want to like, I think I should like, but I just don't. Out of Sight is better.
