I know a lot of naysayers really don't care for this to happen but with what is going on in the dvd industry and all these special edition boxsets and stuff, it would be cool to have this chronological version of all three 'Godfather' films on dvd. And since HD DVD and/or Blu ray have so much more space than your typical dvd, it would be great to have Paramount and Francis Coppola to release this collection onto dvd/blu ray. Why the hell not?

I've never understood that either. I have the chrono VHS set and it looks Like Michael is at least 80 when he falls out of that chair. Could it be the shock of his daughter's death combined with his worsening diabetes aged him in a few months?

I think he died somewhere around 1996 or so. It says in the "family tree" on the dvd.

I would like versions of Part 1 and 2, with the deleted footage inserted in, but NOT in the chrono format, just exnteded versions of the films in their original format

i rented it from a mom and pop movie store a couple of years ago, and this version had all of the deleted scenes included in the movie that are in the "deleted scenes" section of the dvd. this is why i never understood why they alway say complete and uncut.
it adds alot of things to the movie from the book that should have been in the movie....never understood it.
anyone know the answer to this?? Ok, sorry for the delay in answering your question, although I'm still not entirely certain what your question is, i got a pretty good idea. You want to know why, since the complete and uncut version makes more sense and so your wondering why they wouldn't have released it like that. Well, near as I can figure, it's because of time constraints. Coppola had to submit a cut of the movie, trying to keep the story intact and tell as much as possible before shifting to another story, sometimes you just have to sacrifice scenes that really should explain itself without having to be shown to you. Then the studio execs cut the movie to what they think it should be. Execs always keep in mind the length of a movie because it limits the number of showings it can have in a day. Obviously, this probably wasn't such a concern at the time, what still remains true is that the suits just didn't want people discouraged from seeing a long movie. This is why the attention span of the average movie-goer nowadays is that of a ferret. I think those scenes make the movie work a lot better too, this is why I'd love to see them on DVD as is.

I believe that when Mary was killed, so was Michael, not physically, but in heart and spirit. His punishment was to live a long life, all alone, living with those memories day after day. Don Cardi

I would say that Connie probably died before Michael. Obviously Kay never spoke to him again, and Vincent was probably assasinated in New York. Anthony probably lived in total obscurity and Michael died alone and broken. Thats a fair amount of assumptions with absolutely no basis.
