Former Bonanno capo Cicale testifies Basciano ordered murder of mob associate



Former capo in the Bonanno crime family Dominick Cicale took the stand to testify against former Bonanno acting boss Vincent “Vinny Gorgeous” Basciano. Cicale testified that he carried out the orders to whack mob associate Randolph Pizzolo. The plan to kill Pizzolo was put into action by Cicale after the feds in 2004 arrested Basciano. Cicale said ” Pizzolo was murdered on orders of Vincent Basciano” to U.S. Attorney Nicole Argentieri in Brooklyn Federal Court.

Cicale was known as Basciano’s right hand man on the streets which makes the testimony particularly damaging. Cicale said “I was basically his (Basciano) protege”. The testimony by Cicale bolsters secret recording made by mob boss turned rat Joseph Massino in which Basciano admitted that he gave the order to whack Pizzolo. This is the second time that Cicale has testified against his former boss , back in 2006 his testimony helped to convict Basciano for the murder of Frank Santoro a junkie who has threatened to kidnap Basciano’s son.

Cicale also testified about how he passed bizarre tests from Basciano to earn his credit with the mobster. Cicale said Basciano has his then girlfriend Deborah Kalb make a pass at him while hanging out at a Forest Hills club to see how he would react and if he would honor the mob code of keeping your hands off other mobsters women. On another occasion Basciano summoned him to a Mexican restaurant in Manhattan and timed how long it took Cicale to get there from the Bronx. Cicale said Basciano told him how impressed he was with him on how he handled his booze and the advances by Kalb.

Basciano is already serving a life sentence for his murder conviction of Santoro and faces a possible life sentence if he is convicted of ordering the murder of Pizzolo.

Wait, what did I miss? What happened to Massino during cross examination?

Oh man..You certainly missed the big news. Somehow a corrupt NYPD detective managed to smuggle two semi automatic pistols into the courtroom for Basciano. As Massino was about to take his seat in the witness chair, Basciano, red in face and holding two fully loaded .357 Desert Eagles, ran up to Massino and pumped no less than EIGHTEEN slugs into his chest. The amazing thing is Massino is still alive and will be back on the stand next Thursday.

Would that have been a better defense strategy than whatever his lawyers are apparently doing?

At this point, there really ain't much he can do. The judge has it in for him and let's be honest, the case is filled with rats. If he beats this I'll be surprised.

And Joe Massino is gonna walk out of jail. What a life .
