it never sed in the movies that he got his button. i know he "made his bone" by killing the turk but it never mentioned it.

He was made when he came back from Sicily I think they mentioned it in the Godfather Returns.

I think it would have been redundant to see it in the film, just like we don't need to see Mike and Kay's wedding or Sonny's actual funeral. It's something that is implied.

That's the beauty of The Godfather films. They don't show a lot of events that other movies would show. They simply allow the viewer to connect the dots on their own.

It's a neat scene to tie into TGR, but I think Winegardener even butchered that a little, if I remember correctly.

If Michael was ever formally "made," it's never mentioned in any of the movies or in the novel ( not "The Godfather Returns" ). Nor was anyone else "made."

In real life, not all Mafia families have a formal "making" ceremony with pricking of fingers, burning saints' cards, etc.

I think bearing the Corleone name was enough to "make" Mike. I like the last scene in GFI when the fellas are with Michael in the office, then we know he is now the Don. All suspicions are cleared up by the end of part I.

The gay Fredo made alot of sense to me but yeah I didn't like the not an abortion thing either but I did like Sonny's daughter running down her husband.

It makes sense but I still don't like it. It reeked of Winegardner trying to put a spin on the old material to shock people into reading HIS novel.

The abortion explanation should have been "aborted" from the start. Not that I really care because I don't consider Winegardners novels to be canon, but he should have it come out that Kay DID have an abortion and lied to Mike, saying she didn't, so that when he learns the truth he will go crazy.

But who cares.
